Commissioner Roger Goodell has suspended Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback Ben Rothleisberger for the first six games of the 2010 NFL season. This following the trade for Bryan Leftwich makes one wonder if Big Ben is about to be traded elsewhere. The one problem with this is the suspension. Does a team want to trade for someone who can't even practice with the team until the season is a quarter over? St Louis has already made it clear that they are not interested. They will be picking Sam Bradford of Oklahoma with the first pick tomorrow. Cleveland likewise is not going to trade for him. But guess who is rumored to be interested? Who has always had an affinity for bad boys. That's right. The Raiders. Dirty Al has always liked guys who had problems elsewhere. It used to work for his team, but not so much recently. But be careful Al. Do you really want people like me calling your team the Oakland Rapers? This never works. The one time Bill Walsh went after someone like this it was a disaster. He aquired Lawrence Phillips, the Nebraska running back who had flamed out with the Rams. This is a guy who, while at Nebraska beat up his girlfriend & dragged her down 3 flights of stirs. Really sterling personality. What did he do for the Niners? Failed to block, or didn't care to block a pass rusher who sacked Steve Young into retirement. So now the league wants Ben to "get help" for his off field activities, which apparently involve lots of alcohol & women. Nice. Supposedly the DA down in Georgia still thinks he's guilty of rape but doesn't have the evidence, plus she was drunk too. Just a bad situation all over. This should be a message to all athletes. You may be rich & famous, but you still can lose it all because of stupidity. Just ask Michael Vick.
