In response to:
Jets fan sues Patriots, Belichick
A disgusted Jets season ticket-holder went on the offensive yesterday against the Patriots over the infamous Videogate scandal. Princeton lawyer Carl Mayer filed a class-action suit in Newark Federal Court against the New England Patriots and coach Bill Belichick because a video assistant filmed Jets coaches giving defensive signals last month. "We want to find out the truth," Mayer said. He's seeking unspecified damages, perhaps refunding the cost of tickets to fans who sat through seven New England-Jets games at Giants Stadium since 2000.
Unbelievable. And a Princeton lawyer, no less. This clown has no cause of action against the Patriots. I would LOVE to read the Petition to find out what they're alleging. The Patriots, or any other team for that matter, do not owe us fans anything. There is no contract between the Jets fans and the Patriots, nor is there any action lying in tort between any of them. It's disgusting to think that this lawyer seems to think that there is.
He wants to find out the truth. The truth is not owed to you, Mr. Mayer. It's owed to the NFL. If you don't like they way the NFL has handled it, you can choose to stop buying tickets or watching it on TV, but nothing is owed to you. Do yourself a favor and try filing lawsuits for actual clients who have been wronged in some way.
