Some of you may remember the old Fannation Throwdown League that Geenman ran a year-ish back here, but most probably don't. The FTL was a team-based throwdown tournament, with each team member's performance contributing to the team's record. The FTL is long gone, but I've decided I would like to create a throwdown league with a similar style.
My idea is for a TD League, not just a tourney. It may seem fairly complicated, but in reality for most participants it will be fairly simple. The only people really doing work will be me and the captains of the teams (I will be the captain of one team).
The league will ideally feature 8 teams of 6 TDers each. This can change depending on interest, as we may kick off with fewer teams or less members per team, or even expand in the future. But one step at a time.
The league will being with a draft, with all of the captains coming together whenever possible to draft their teams. The draft will be serpentine in order (the order reverses each round) with the original order being decided at random.
After the draft, everyone not selected, as well as new members, will be put in a Free Agent Pool. More on how that works later. If you're not drafted, don't fret: you could be added to a team at any time.
After the teams are made, the teams will be randomly ranked to begin with. The matchups will be announced (more on matchups later), and the captains will assign the topics (more on topics later). They will then send the list of topics and members doing them to the other team's captain, who will assign them to their team and make sure the TDs are started.
After that, everything is relatively easy. The Tds get done, and the results are tallied. The teams are then re-ranked (more on rankings later) and then the whole process begins again.
So there it is, my plans for a Team Throwdown League. If you're interested, let me know down below and join the group for the league at THIS LINK.
