There has been a lot of insults towards Penn State and our fans over the past twenty-four hours, due to the story on the front page of this site reporting that Michigan may have to forfeit its win from that game. There are just a few things that these fans need to realize.
Penn State did nothing wrong here. Michigan was the only team that broke a rule. Whether they knew about Chambers being ineligable or not is irrelevant. If they didn't know, this just shows that they need to be more in touch with their team.
Also, Penn State would not recieve credit for the win. Their loss might be dropped if Michigan is forced to forfeit, but their win total will remain the same. They had way too many turnovers, and they fell short of the win. They don't deserve it, and they will not recieve it.
One member stated that Penn State is always overrated. This makes absolutely no sense to me. They may have been overrated this year, but maybe they weren't. They were expected to finish fourth in the Big Ten this year before the season started, and that could very well happen. And there is no way that they were overrated the last two years. May I remind you that it took five unbeaten games to get into the polls, and an amazing win over Ohio State just to get near the top ten. They went from a bottom of the Big Ten team to number three in the nation that year. They also won the Orange Bowl with Paul Posluszny and Tony Hunt getting injured early. Last year they were better than expected too, with a very good upset win over then-seventeenth ranked Tennessee in the Outback Bowl.
So Michigan fans, just shutup. Your team was wrong, and there is no reason to take it out on Penn State. Everyone has years when they are not as good as expected, just take a look in the mirror.
