UK's young defense is starting to grow up, and is getting better every game.  They're doing a nice job of staying with assignments and limiting trick plays, a big problem in years past and a favorite of so-called offensive geniuses like Steve Spurrier and Bobby Petrino.

SC has great pass defense #'s, but they have yet to play a team with UK's aerial firepower, and UK can run the ball, anyway.  Can Smelley scramble and run?  If not, he'll get hit a few times.  SC will probably have to try to win with defense.

Rich Brooks is gaining the respect of his fellow league coaches for the job he's done at Kentucky, and as one of the SEC's 2 remaining unbeatens, hopefully the league officials won't exhibit the extreme prejudice UK usually gets in league games.  Maybe Florida's the league's designated roundball school now.

There's no touted Heisman hopeful on SC's team for UK to dent the armor of, as they did with Brian Brohm and Darren McFadden, but they're still playing to gain respect--not only for Andre Woodson, but for the entire program.  They've taken on the look of a team on a mission.

Steve Spurrier even sounds slightly apprehensive about the game, way out of character for him when discussing Kentucky.

UK is 10-1 in their last 11 games, 5-0 this season, 4-0 against the spread.  SC's favored by 3 1/2, but UK's covered every game this season, beating the spread by an average of 13 points per game, with the least they've covered by being 5 pts.  The Sagarin ratings have UK by about 3 pts., even after factoring in SC's home field advantage.

From the Defender of the (Wildcat) Faith in the River City, make it UK 33, SC 24.
