Well, I think we’re not completely dead yet. Want proof? Look at the second half of the Purdue game. And look closely.

Even though Evan Sharpley played better than Jimmy Clausen (in my opinion, Sharpley should start this week against UCLA, but heck, I’m just a trumpet player in the Band), Clausen did start to look really good, hooking up with Duval Kumara a couple of times before Jimmy hurt his hip, while Tate did most of his work with Sharpley. More on Tate in a minute. Besides the improved QB-WR play, how about the O-Line? Only 2 sacks in this game for 14 yards, a vast improvement over the previous weeks. Also, both those sacks came on Sharpley, even though the general thought on campus is that Sharpley is more mobile than Clausen. Well, it seems as if that thought might be wrong. But big ups to the O-line for their improved play this week, we actually were able to get an offense going, albeit in the 2nd half.

Now, back to Golden Tate. A recent poll in The Observer asked this question:

“How many Heisman Trophies will Golden Tate win at Notre Dame? Choices: 1, 2, 3, or 4?”

I had to laugh at this, as the Golden Hype seems to have continued to rise here at ND. But, could he be in the mold of current ESPN analyst Desmond Howard? Or is he like former ND player, and Heisman runner-up, Raghib “Rocket” Ismail? Or, for an even better comparison, could he be like former Notre Dame Heisman Trophy winner Tim Brown? All of that remains to be seen, but from the buzz around campus, you’d think that Joe Montana in the form of a WR/Returner stepped onto the field the other day.

Anyways, onto my prediction for tomorrow against UCLA:
We match up pretty well against them, to be honest, plus, I feel UCLA has been overrated the entire season. What’s not to say we can’t beat them again?

Prediction:
NOTRE DAME 28, UCLA- 20

Well, that wraps up today’s blog.

Go Irish!
