Ok, so, I'm insanely bored and felt like blogging. So, I decided to give you a look into my Madden NFL 08 Superstars. We'll go from draft day all the way to retirement. First up: Bryant Jones. (I'll only be covering some in this one, and not much, I don't want to give you the whole thing yet.)
So, Bryant Jones is this stud QB, kind of like Andre' Woodson. He attended the University of Michigan and in my pretend world, won a Heisman there. I create his attributes, his build, and reach my apartment.
I do his individual workouts (even though **** at the QB ones), and I earn three points awareness from the individual workouts. In the combine, I earn a point towards throw power.
Draft day. I'm asked if I wish to be drafted by my favorite team, the Jets. I say no, preferring to be surprised. The draft begins.
I wait a bit. I'm a bit shocked to see that Im not picked in the third round. I usually am picked somewhere in the third round.
Fourth round, nothing. The fifth round comes and I'm the second pick by the Rams. Im just relieved to have finally been picked. But this worries me that Jones isn't a very good player.
As soon as I'm back in my apartment, I change my hair. Bryant Jones is African-American. I change his hair to blond dreadlocks. Lookin' sharp, Bryant!
Then, I get some tattoos. One tattoo is a Hawaiian band, the other is the letter J. He's all set.
His requested number was 13. He receives 13. Now, I check out the depth chart. The moment of truth.
I'm not surprised to see that he's number 1 on the depth chart. It always does that, automatically put your player number 1 when he really shouldn't be. I put Marc Bulger in his place. What I'm looking for are his ratings. They are...drumroll please...
ENOUGH!!!
Here are the key ratings for a QB:
Awareness: 81
Speed: 71
Throw Power: 86
Throw Accuracy: 84
OVERALL RATING: 79
I'm off to a pretty good start. Stay tuned for Volume 2.

It sucks because I've got Marc Bulger in my way. Once I become a free agent in 2010 I will only stay if I get the money because Bulger will still be in St. Louis. By then I'll probably be at least an 80 overall so I might be a starter for a couple of teams. Who knows.

the thing i hate about creating QBs is it is way harder to improve at that position than any other one. I would start as like an 84 or so (that was my best) but almost never would i get any better. Of course, I dont own the 08 so i dont know if this is different now or what.

Yeah, 08 is alot different. Instead of using DNA to create your player's attributes, you get a certain amount of points and you add those points to your attributes. It's much more difficult to make a good player in 08 than 07, which I kind of like. In 07 I once had a QB who started out a 90, a RB who started 90, and a LB who started 95. My best player in 08 was a safety who started as an 87 overall, and when he retired was a 92. It's really hard.

It's too hard in 08. I hope they bring back the DNA in 09. What they should do is have you pick the position that you want to be. Suppose I want to be a RB. Next, you'll get a random set of parents, say they're both runners of avg. IQ. Your dad's hobby is video games, and your mom's is tennis. You would be an speedster. If you don't like them you can keep picking new ones until you find one you like. My dream scenario would be that my dad would be a HOF Power RB, and my mom would be a sous chef (hands). My dad's hobby would be airplanes (I think awareness), and my mom's would be running (speed). One of my parents would have a high IQ. Next, I would run a few mandated drills to assist my stats. Then, the regular superstar mode from 07 would resume. The cameras would be from 06, but you get to choose your play out of 3 selected plays. Get it?

What system do you have? Superstar sucks on 360. You always start out as a 50, and the view for the QB is terrible. You can't choose what team you get drafted by, so the Patriots draft me almost all of the time. That REALLY pisses me off.

I'm playing on my crappy GameCube. I wanted to use my roommate's 360, but he was on XBOX Live and wouldn't let me. So, I had my GC, and decided to take advantage of it. I usually have an overall rating around 75 to 80 when I get drafted.
On the GC, when you go to the draft it gives you the option to be chosen by your favorite team. I usually say no, preferring to be surprised, but if I think my player will be in a good situation with the Jets, like at DE, I will say yes.
I keep getting drafted by the Rams when I'm a QB, and the Patriots for every other position. I don't get it. The Pats are loaded everywhere. They dont need me.

The worst part about 2008 on the Wii is that you can't change your appearance, hair, or get tattoos which REALLY p*ssed me off!!!!!! I would have a black dude with a hair cut that made him look like a f*g...
