So as the baseball season reaches the quarter mark, teams are starting to look at what they need and can get through trade. As many WHite sox fans know, we need a lefthanded hitter. Not only one that can hit, but can slug.
The only name mentioned so far is that of Lance Berkman of the Houston Astros. Lance is having a down year and is on the wrong side of thirty. Lance's numbers have been on a steady decline over the past 3 seasons. The biggest issue is that the name linked to Berkman is that of Jordan Danks. Danks is one of the top White Sox outfield prospects but more importantly he is the top prospect for their outfield. Danks is in the first year of his minor league deal and looks to have the tools to be a fixture in the white sox outfield for years to come.
One of the major issues with the Sox organization has been the rapid aging of their franchise. Through trades of players such as Clayton Richard, Aaron Poreda, and others they have become an older organization and it doesnt make the future look very promising. Though they have obtained players such as Tyler Flowers the future catcher for the Sox, some of these players are years from being ready, note Flowers is hitting 270 in triple A and strikes out on average 3 times per walk.
While the White Sox need a left handed hitter, it is still unclear whether they should even be buyers ath this point in the season. Unfortunately it looks as though they will end up being sellers. With Konerko being in the last year of his deal and AJ being a 10 and 5 guy, some moves need to be made. The major issue is, they need to be thinking about the future of the organization and not winning now, there are way to many pieces missing to win now. Be smart Kenny
