I'm Coletrain. I had a rough night yesterday. On the sport side of things, it was even worse. First I see the Carmona just SCHOOL the Yankees, then I wake up in the middle of the night because I can't sleep, I turn on my TV for a moment, and the first thing I see is Manny hit a walk-off 3 run shot. I feel like the baseball Gods are just messin with me now. After that, I couldn't sleep some more and...UGH! So, here I am at 7:30 in the morning on a Saturday doing a blog about the Red Sox kicking a*s. I'll try to be nice.

Gamechanger- What do you think?
Play Of The Game- Once again, I think you know already. The Manny moonshot.
The Angels had to win this game. HAD TO! They once again got off to a good start, getting 2 man on base in the 1st inning. But Izturis struck out looking to end the inning. He killed the Angels today. Leaving 4 men LOB. J.D. Drew finally did something important in the bottom of the 1st, knocking in 2 with a RBI single. In the 2nd inning, the Angels for the first time showed some fight. It was obvious that Dice-K still didn't have nowhere near his best stuff. He just doesn't look good. Anyway, after Mathis grounded out to score a run, 2 doubles back-to-back by Figgins and Cabrera gave the Angels their first lead of the postseason.
Kelvim Escobar was doing very good for the first half of the game. He wasn't fooling around. Just coming at the Red Sox bats and getting the outs. What he normally does. Untill the 5th. After he gave up a lead-off double to Perdroia, he walked Ortiz(intentionally), then he was up 0-2 on Manny and totally lost his control and walks him too. So here we have Mike Lowell, the quiet killer on this team. He doesn't get a hit, but he gets a RBI. The sac fly to CF scores Pedroia. 3-3.
After this, it came down to the battle of the bullpens. A great battle seeing as both of these teams have fantastic bullpens. Scot Shields, who struggled very much down the stretch, came in pitched 2 innings of spotless work(although his control was off). The Red Sox bullpen looked better. Okajima pitched like it was May again. Just foolin everybody. Papelbon follows, gets in a jam in the 8th, but strikes Figgins out looking. The 2 guys who killed the Angels were Izturis and Figgins. Both couldn't get it down in big spots.
Justin Speier works a perfect 8th and gets called on to do the 9th. It's easy for me to sit here and blame Mike Scioscia for bringing him in again, but I can't do that. I would've done the same thing. Lugo started off the inning with a single to left. After Pedroia grounded out, Lugo advanced to 2B. To try to stop the "little cut" Scioscia calls K-Rod. Another thing you can't yell at him for. What else was he gonna do? K-Rod makes Youk look silly for the 2nd out. They intentionally walk Ortiz again, which is something I disagree on. If you walk Ortiz, you might as well walk Manny too. Well, they didn't. Instead, K-Rod throws a cookie right down the pipe. Manny sends in into the exosphere. A GW 3-run HR. And the...
Red Sox 6- Angels 3
Well, that "little cut" is now a huge gash of blood. One that I don't think the Angels can recover from. The Angels did show fight last night which is good. They looked good. But they couldn't get the big hit, the Red Sox bullpen looked better, and the Red Sox seem much more clutch. If you're a Red Sox fan, the only thing to be worried about is Dice-K. Because he looks like a #4 or #5 starter. I wouldn't trust him AT ALL.
Next Game- Weaver(13-7,3.91) vs. Schilling(9-8,3.87) Sunday, October 7, TBS @ 3pm
I wanna pick the Angels. They are due for a win and they are playing at home where they are great. But I don't see it. Last night was a punch to the face that knocked them out for good. Schilling will storm in, pitch 6 or 7 innings , deliver in the big game, and the Red Sox will grind out Weaver. I'll say 8-1 Red Sox.
I'm done. Thank God.
