Let's get these posted early this week, and let the debates begin:

SEC Power Ratings
(Oct. 8)

1. LSU (Last week, 1) defeated Florida 28-24
Tremendous fourth-quarter comeback for the Tigers against a Florida team that seemed to have things under control most of the night. Wins like this can lead to championships. Next week: at Kentucky

2. Florida (3) lost to LSU, 28-24
Wait, they lost and moved up? Come on, how could you not be impressed with the Gators giving the top team in the country all it could handle? The Gators let this one slip away and are now back in the pack in the SEC East, but they're still the second-best team in the league.  Next week: Bye

3. South Carolina (5) beat Kentucky 38-23
Impressive win for the Gamecocks, they now control their own destiny in the SEC East. Unfortunately for USC, that destiny includes games against Tennessee, Arkansas and Florida. Next week: at North Carolina

4. Tennessee (10) beat Georgia 35-14
When evaluating the two-loss SEC teams, Auburn has the best win (at Florida) and the worst loss (vs. MSU). But Tennessee's impressive win over Georgia gives them a better overall resume at this point. The Vols also control their destiny in the SEC East, but the bulk of their conference schedule remains. Next week: at Mississippi State

5. Auburn (8) beat Vanderbilt 35-7
It would seem the Tigers have turned things around from that early-season funk. But the Razorbacks always seem to give Auburn fits, and it would be typical for the Tigers to give one back after a couple of good wins. Next week: at Arkansas

6. Kentucky (2) lost to South Carolina 38-23
The Kentucky offense is ready to challenge for an SEC title. The defense is ready to challenge for worst in the league. Not a good scenario with the toughest part of their schedule staring them in the face. Next week: vs. LSU

7. Georgia (4) lost to Tennessee 35-14
Everyone else was scoring on the Vols, what happened to the Dawgs? Georgia's young offense just can't play consistently enough to give their fans hope to contend for a title. With two Eastern Division losses, Georgia is going to need some help to get back in the race. Next week: at Vanderbilt

8. Alabama (7) beat Houston 30-24
The Tide should fall further than one spot for giving Houston a chance to win on the last play. But they did beat Arkansas and should be ranked ahead of them.  Despite the poor play of late, a trip to Oxford is good for what ails you. Next week: at Ole Miss.

9. Arkansas (6) beat Tennessee-Chattanooga 34-15
Yes, the Razorbacks are winning. No, we are not impressed. Beat someone good and you'll see it reflected in the ratings. Saturday would be a good start. Next week: vs. Auburn

10. Mississippi State (11) beat UAB 30-13
The Bulldogs jump over Vandy since, unlike the Commodores, they beat Auburn. This momentary ray of sunshine for MSU fans will not last long. Next week: vs. Tennessee

11. Vanderbilt (9) lost to Auburn 35-7
The Commodores' best win is over an Ole Miss team we've ranked last in the league. We'll need to see something more before moving them above this spot any time soon. Next week: vs. Georgia

12. Ole Miss (12) beat Louisiana Tech 24-0
A shutout is always nice, but in the Rebels want to move out of the cellar they're going to have to beat an SEC team. Next week: vs. Alabama

This week looks pretty darn accurate to me. Well reasoned. I think it would have been easy to put SC in second, but I agree with you that Florida is number 2.
