After two matches of the UEFA Champions League, the teams are beginning to learn just where they are and what they need to do. You only play six matches in the opening round, so every match is very important. Keep in mind that only the top two from each group advance to the Round of Sixteen. With that being said, I'll start with a good award.
MVP So Far Award- Sevilla's Clemente Luis Fabiano wins it. His fours goals has helped them to six points in two matches.
Most Dissappointing Team Award- So far, this award has to go to Liverpool. They lost to a very weak Marseille side and they only mustarded a draw out of FC Porto, who is decent. Liverpool have to turn this around, because if they don't, they may not make the RO16.
Most Impressive Team Award- This is an easy one, it's the team that's in first in Group D, Shaktar Donestk. They are the underdogs from Ukraine, let's hope they can continue this. It would be great for UEFA.
Most Dissappointing Player Award- Well, I hate to do this, but Steven Gerrard of Liverpool wins this. If he doesn't step up, Liverpool are in serious danger. They can't go very far without him playing well.
Best Group Award- This goes to Group D. It has two really good teams, a decent one, and a suprising Ukrainian side.
Best Manager Award- I have to give this one to Sir Alex Ferguson. He got his team a win even when they weren't playing very well. They currently have 6 points out of two matches.
League That Has Been Best Represented- Have to go with La Liga. All of their teams are either 1 or 2. And all of these teams should easily make it to the RO16.
The last award I want to give out is a goal of the first two weeks award. I didn't see much action, so you tell me what your favorite goal was so far.
Remember, I will continue to update you on all the UEFA Champions League action that you crave.
