All comments and criticisms are greatly appreciated! And I am sure I will be getting more of the latter this week...

1. South Florida Bulls - There quality wins are just simply better than the rest of the remaining undefeated teams. Holding on to the top spot will be tuff as the Bulls face Rutgers this Thursday night in Piscataway. The Bulls are officially now the hunted. Previous (4)

2. Ohio State Buckeyes - The Bucks will have the opportunity to move past the Bulls if they can survive their final 4 games stretch of PSU, Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin. Untill then it is not justifiable to have them at number 1. Previous (3)

3. LSU Tigers - This isn't that far of a drop and with good reason, it took a quality SEC opponent Triple OT to defeat the Bayou Bengals, and no other team has better wins in Florida, Virginia Tech and South Carolina. Previous (1)

4. Oklahoma Sooners - Of all the one loss teams, the Sooners have the easiest schedule the rest of the way, it is hard to envision them losing the rest of the way, Missouri may have been their tuffest opponent left and the Sooners passed that test. Previous (5)

5. Boston College Eagles - The undefeated Eagles will finally start playing the tuff part of their schedule beginning with Virginia Tech, now we will really know how good this team is. Previous (8)

6. Oregon Ducks - The Ducks are a good football team, but is it time to question just how good the Pac 10 is? As of now they are one of the most explosive offenses in the country, so they deserve this ranking. Previous (6)

7. Kentucky Wildcats - These cats' have the MOST impressive victory of any team in the country. Yes the Kentucky Wildcats are still in national championship contention and Andre Woodson should be the front runner for the Heisman. Previous (15)

8. South Carolina Gamecocks - The Gamecocks played too close of a game against North Carolina in a new rivalry game, Coach Steve are you sure you wan't to create a game like this that UNC has everything to gain and nothing to lose, while the affect on your team is the reverse? Previous (7)

9. West Virginia Mountaineers - It's amazing that a bye week that is the only thing keeping any team safe this year, and it is still very possible this team runs the table the rest of the way in the Big East. Previous (10)

10. Arizona State Sun Devils - This undefeated team has Cal, Oregon, UCLA and USC the next 4 games, it will be hard to stay undefeated through that stretch. Previous (17)

11. California Golden Bears - Without Nate Longshore, this team becomes an average Top 25 team, with him Cal is number 1 this week, tuff break for Berkley. Previous (2)

12. Virginia Tech - The match up with Boston College may prove that Va Tech is still the best team in the ACC and prove that they are still the favorite for the ACC's BCS Bid. Previous (12)

13. Florida Gators - Still the best two loss team in the country, but it is getting increasingly harder for the Gators not to slip in the polls just a bit further. Previous (11)

14. USC Trojans - All the talent in the world and this team is continuing to struggle, and the hard part of their schedule as with many other teams is about to begin. Previous (9)

15. Hawaii Warriors - Hawaii keeps winning, so they keep moving up, this schedule is still highly questionable, I can't wait till the Boise State game, it could be one of the most entertaining games of the year. Previous (16)

16. Kansas Jayhawks - Another undefeated team with a weak schedule, while Kansas is an up and coming program until they have a big win it is hard to move them that far up in the polls. Previous (25)

17. Missouri Tigers - Missouri is still a contender in the Big 12 and may get a rematch with Oklahoma, on a neutral field later on this season. Previous (13)

18. Cincinatti Bearcats - After the loss to Louisville this spot just seemed to suit itself for Cincinatti since they only have that one loss. Previous (14)

19. Auburn Tigers - How this team lost to Miss. State I have no idea, if they didn't they are certainly in the top 10. Previous (20)

20. Texas Longhorns - The Horn's took care of business this week in impreesive style over Iowa State 56 to 3. Previous (22)

21. Tenessee Volunteers - The Vols only losses are to Cal and Florida and they are still alive for the SEC Championship. Previous (23)

22. Michigan Wolverines - Who would have believed that after the first 2 weeks Michigan would be back in the Top 25 still with a shot to win the Big 10? Previous (NR)

23. Penn State Nittany Lions - The traditional powerhouses are coming to the forefront in the Big 10. Previous (NR)

24. Georgia Bulldogs - Close call against Vandy, but it is never easy in the SEC. Previous (NR)

25. Texas Tech Red Raiders - It's hard to keep them out of the Top 25 so they are here, but I still have questions about this squad.  They still have Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri left on the schedule. Previous (NR)

And the Next 5....

26. Virginia Cavaliers

27. Rutgers Scarlet Knights

28. Alabama Crimson Tide

29. Illinois Fighting Illini

30. Kansas State Wildcats

Teams falling out of Top 25...

Florida State, Illinois, Wisconsin, Purdue

No way is Hawaii a top 25 team even with the weekly upsets. I watched them Friday night and it was a horrendous game. The WAC is unwatchable. By the way South Florida is going to beat Rutgers by three touchdowns and shut up all the obnoxious New Jersey bandwagon jumpers in the stadium who rooted for Notre Dame before Greg Schiano came to Jersey and rescued Rutgers.

That was almost a sentence, Keith. Nice job!

Go South Florida. I don't really have any reason to say that, but I hate college football. The politics behind it and the ridiculous amount of prestige it gets makes me want to f'n puke. If two BCS conference schools go undefeated, they are in the national championship game, and they have the Heisman Trophy winner. That's just about mathematical fact. Schools like South Florida automatically, just by the game's structure, needs to go undefeated and get help in order to play for the title.

And ya know what? They still might get screwed. Wait and see what happens with the conference championships. What a joke of a league...

I agree that USF has more quality wins, thus is deserving of ranking over Ohio State. But given the way this season is going, who would want to be #1? It seems like any team with a top ten ranking is doomed to be upset. Their AP ranking of 2 should make this Thursday night very interesting in the Big East.

October 14, 2007  04:04 PM ET

Excellent blog, but i wouldn't put USF so high up. In a season with so many upsets, I find it hard to determine the difference between quality wins and lucky upsets. I hope USF make a good bowl, just because i like more Elite teams, and USF is turning into one. However, they are just one more team in the way of LSU, whom i want to win the Title.

Great blog,we will see at the end of the season how Hawaii finishes. They are better than people think. We all must realize when you must play against the political college control of financialy dominate organizations, we should be aware of this. Why would MIchigan opt out at the beginning of the season to play Hawaii. They were aware it would be quite ugly for them. The financial pay off Michigan gave Hawaii not to play was a ploy for political reasons only. Now that they are ranked in the top 25, lets play a bowl game to see who is really the better team. Wake up College fans, we all have our favorite teams,but we must come to the real truth of this matter, that it only benefits the politicaly controlled organizations that play in bowl games, and not necessaraly the best or most talented teams. Maybe some day fans will realize that your team is unjustfully critisized by prejudicial comments by television media, who have only the insight to promote their former source of endeaver. This may seem like a casual observation, but I have watched it for many years. Fans wake up, it is all about who makes the most financial gains. Thanks (The Optomistic Analyst}

Especially in a season like this, the need for a playoff system is obvious. I don't understand why the Bowls oppose the idea. It would make the lesser bowls as important as the big bowls in that every game would be important! Play the top 16 teams. I doubt if Ohio State, Oklahoma or Texas would survive...teams like LSU, WVU, USF, Florida, South Carolina, or even Penn State would survivie because they play tough opponents every single week. Those teams that rely on running up the scores every week against much weaker teams to show how good they are and then only have to get up for one or two games a season shouldn't even be in the top 20. Last year, Florida's win showed just what those 66-0 games against weak teams mean. Ohio State wouldn't have even been in the final game of a playoff system...they would have been knocked out in the first round by a 16th-ranked SEC or Big East team.

Well, I think we all know that a playoff system is where 1-A college football is headed. It's just a matter of time. I think there were many more factors to Ohio State's catastrophic meltdown last year rather than them just being overrated which many people believe, however, there is no way they would have lost to a 16th ranked SEC or Big East team in the first round. One thing that I would like to see change quickly, though, (And this is where I will take a shot at Ohio State) is waiting until after bowl games to hand out the individual hardware. Given the greater implications of some of the bowl games these days it makes sense, ahem Troy Smith. Who would've given him the Heisman after that performance? Well, good top 25 anyway.

USF? #1? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I say they're still around #5...which considering all their stats/schedule/etc..is quite respectful for them.

October 17, 2007  07:37 PM ET

"Until Kansas gets a big win" is a crap excuse. What, at Kansas State isn't a big win? The Wildcats are WAY better than anyone Hawaii, Arizona State, Ohio State or Boston College have played. And do you see how Kansas is winning all of its games? By an average of 41 points! That means KU has the second best scoring offense and second best scoring defense. If the Jayhawks had "Oklahoma" stripped across their jerseys with the same schedule and players, you'd have them in your top 5.

October 17, 2007  11:12 PM ET

hawaii is a great team, considering what they have overcome in the last few years. the only problem hawaii has is that they play inconsistently, and so far they have been lucky. If Hawaii can get its act together and focus on the next few games, then they definitely deserve a bowl game. Name any other team that flies 3000 miles, and adjusts to the altitude and weather conditions and comes from behind TWICE on the road. it just doesnt happen.

October 17, 2007  11:18 PM ET

sorry just to add...

ill give you that Colt Brennan is HIGHLY overrated, but the receivers for Hawaii had an off night this last Friday. So let me put it to you this way, even though Hawaii ALMOST lost, even though the scores werent that great in this last weeks game against San Jose, they still managed to break the record for most completions EVER in a single game in NCAAF recorded history. And thats playing as crappy as they did. Now imagine what they can do and will do playing the last 4 out of 5 games at home!?

They need to come up with some plays that dont focus so much on precision movement though. its going to kill them in rain and on poor field surfaces, such as San Joses.

The Big East is just a horrible conference!!! Does being the best of a bunch of poor teams make you number one in the country, well not even close. WVU is not even a top ten 10. If this is the case Hawaii needs to be in the top 5 right now!!
