I can't blame you for feeling the way you do about the Bills. They are in a quicksand of "consistent mediocrity."

That Dallas loss was inexplicable and surreal, if only because you saw almost the same thing four weeks earlier.

As for this Sunday, Willis McGahee's return should be interesting. I bet he runs hard, runs well and silences the boos from the Ralph Wilson Stadium crowd. Willis' conference call Wednesday offered very little in the way of sound bites, but he should play with some extra inspiration Sunday.

Jauron has no loyalty to JP and if Ralph is behind Edwards too, then he is always going to get the benefit of the doubt while both men are on the roster. Jauron and Marv were here when they picked Edwards, but not Losman. They can wash their hands of JP, so long as Edwards puts together representables efforts each week. He will throw up a stinker sometime between now and the end of the season (assuming he continues to start), but JP is still under contract with the Bills next season and if they want to trade him, they have to play him to get any value for him.

Edwards has done a passable job, but you need to see more from him to be sure he is the quarterback of the future. He can't be crowned as the new face of the franchise after two starts.

That being said, I thought Jauron would go back to JP one last time and have a very quick hook on him. He has been an incredible slow developer and he showed promise last year before taking a huge step backwards early this season, but he's still only 26. Yes, he should have shown more progress by now, but if they hand Edwards the job, they better be sure. I saw a stat yesterday regarding Bills' quarterbacks during the past decade or so. Since Jim Kelly retired after the 1996 season, the Bills have used 8 different starting quarterbacks, including Edwards.

As for the G-Men, it seems to be that Eli is making far fewer mistakes, but those few mistakes he is making almost always come back to haunt him. As well as he played Monday night, he still threw 2 INTs and it might seem like I'm being picky, but he still has a problem late in the first half. However, you can't help but be happy with how Eli has played and especially how the Giants have rebounded on defense after that horrific start.
