I REALLY don't understand why everyone is so upset with this Manny Ramirez situation. This topic dominated the early segment of Mike and Mike this morning! It's simply ridiculous, but I guess their are no other players in the world to attack (Mike Vic is officially demolished so its time to go over kill on another player.) I know we are all die hard sports fans, but in the grand scheme of life, is a game really ever the end of the world? If it is then you need to reevaluate your life!
In the sports world, athletes (despite their overwheleming salaries) are merely labors, hence the reason for players unions (they are so minor and powerless that they need a collective voice and additional representatives.) Now, if you ask any other day laboror if their world will end if their corporate employersuffer's third quarter losses, their response would be..."hell no"! This situation is no different, athletes go give 100 percent, especially Manny...and thats all his contract requries....this whole notion that players hearts need to bleed like fans is OBNOXIOUS....at the end of the day its merely a job for them! Remember, most athletes weren't born and raised in the states they play in, heck most athletes don't even reside in the states they play in...so naturally we cannot expect them to have the same passion as a breed, born, and raised, Clevland or Sox fan! Yes they are loyal to their clubs, they already put their blood and sweat into their teams year round....do we really need the tears too. Fans FALL BACK!

Manny is one of the first one that comes to the ballpark . If the red sox played ball like manny and David Ortiz and Josh Beckett they would not be down 3 to 1.

No, Rhonnie.. a game isn't the end of the world. But when you're getting paid big $$$ to play the best that you can, and millions of people are supporting your team, IT'S YOUR JOB TO DO THE BEST YOU CAN.
The series isn't over yet, and he's spouting off that it's no big deal if they lose. I'm not a Sox fan, but his statements ticked me off nonetheless.
It's obvious half the time he's not really trying out there, but to come out and blatantly say in public that he doesn't really care whether they win or lose? That's the attitude of a loser.
Booo Manny.

"athletes go give 100 percent, especially Manny...and thats all his contract requries...."
Apparently you've never watched Manny in the outfield. He's lazier than Barry Bonds.

Larry B, thanks for the knowledge! Manny is a good player, I know his abilitiy and I don't even watch baseball! The man didn't say he didn't care about the series or his team, or anything abnormally horrific...what he did say was"we aren't giving up"but I guess we forget that and harp on the negative...after all ESPN and SI do have to maintain ratings...gotta have something to talk about!

To say "If we lose, it's not the end of the world" is completely against the competitive spirit that makes us love sports. Saying something to that effect after a game is a slightly different story. I don't want to slam Manny into a wall or anything, he can say what he wants to say, but it's disappointing nonetheless.
