Is this how Norv Turner planned on repairing his reputation as a mediocre at best head coach, a 3-3 start with a team that went 14-2 with virtually the same personnel as the previous year? Maybe. Lets take a closer look.

In the past two weeks Norv's Chargers have pounded two division rivals, the Broncos and the Raiders, to the tune of a combined score of 69-17! A great way to go into a bye week, unless you mistakenly believe byes can be momentum killers.

The Chargers have two weeks to get ready for a home game against the Houston Texans. Can you say 4-3 and back in control of the very winnable AFC West, anyone?

Turner got his title as "offensive genius" by riding the wave that was the triplets and arguably the greatest offensive line in NFL history in the early to mid 1990s Dallas Cowboys camp, so he has a lot to prove with the offensive weapons he has at his disposal in San Diego.

Norv has the worst winning percentage of any coach in NFL history who has coached 3 or more years(.415), so a 4-3 start looks like ticker tape parade start for this typically floundering regular season team leader.

Traffic has significantly cooled at firenorv.net since the last two wins. Go figure.

No Charger player had a harsh word for Turner during the 1-3 start, and now that measured silence is paying off for the entire team team's improved lockerrom bonhomie.

QB Phillip Rivers gives a lot of credit to NT for the teams resurgence. "I mean, there's teams that go 1-3 that just keep reeling off losses, but he did a great job of keeping everything together. He has done a nice job and should not have to shoulder the blame for any of the early losses."

LaDanian Tomlinson has no issues with NT either. "Norv is a guy that everybody can get along with. If you dont like Norv then there is really something wrong with you as a person. He gets along with everybody."

Troy Aikman was so taken with Turner that he mentioned him by name in his Hall of Fame induction speech.

Just because Aikman mentioned him does not make Norv a good Head Coach. The problem that can be heard about Norv is that he doesn't inspire his team to play better than they are. This is a great team he inherited, who will have success with or without him. The question of whether or not he's the right head coach for them will be answered in the playoffs - when they lose and again miss the Super Bowl.

They have a better chance of getting to the bowl with Norv then they ever did with Marty. Sheaaaaaaatenheimer is the most unprepared playoff coach ever.

Right now there are no issues cuz SD is winning again just like last year. Let's see if they can keep it going after their bye week. I would hate to go to another SD to hear the crowd chat "Marty" "Marty" "Marty" !!!

"Sheaaaaaaatenheimer is the most unprepared playoff coach ever."

And Turner is the most unprepared regular season coach ever. Fact is, he will NEVER repair his legacy as a HEAD COACH.

I think this is his year. The Chargers lost both of their coordinators from last year-Cam Cameron on O and Wade Phillips on D so it really isnt Norv's fault they got off slow out of the gate adjusting to new philosophies.

All they really got to do is get LT moving again and they'll be just fine! I don't Denver winning the division..., KC's got some issues and forget Oakland! SD will take the division no problem! And I agree about Norv being better than Marty..., never like Marty whatshisname!

how many times can a person say get rid of nerve turnip? just because he got the team back to .500...actually the TEAM did it, not him.
i still want him out of there.

The star players are coming out in public defense ot their NEW head coach? I can't tell you how warm and cuddly I feel right now. Aren't these the type of quotes usually reserved for the coach that just got fired? If I were a Chargers fan, none of what I just read would put me at ease. In fact... I would be actively searching for the source of that putrid stench that's lingering in the San Diego air. Can I ruin the surprise for you? It's coming from Norv Turner.
