Just say no to Peter Forsberg.
Yeah, he is a world-class talent. Yeah, he can win games on his own. Yeah, he is a future Hall of Famer.
Yeah, he's also injury-prone and could disrupt the chemistry of this team!
I don't want to see him back in the Orange and Black. I was thrilled when he first signed with us, but all he did was disappoint. he didn't lead us to the cup, but it all wasn't his fault. Bobby Clarke didn't know how to build a great team, he could just build a perennial contender who never had a goalie or enough firepower.
We're past that now.
Forsberg is a fast, skilled, physical player. The question is: Will his body hold up? I got sick of seeing it last year, every week talking about his foot. Every day it was something else about it. Enough was enough, and we shipped him to Nashville for Hartnell, Upshall, Timmonen, and Parent. We're stacked, revamped, and hungry.
If you look at the Flyers, we have scoring depth now, and Forsberg would take time away from some of the kids we have. Another thing is this Roger Clemens "I might want to play" stuff. You do or you don't. End of story. It's about the money. Who is willing to pay Forsberg $3-5 Million today? Not me.
Thanks for getting us our Stanley Cup, Pete, too bad you won't be on the team that will be bringing it back home.
Stay is Sweden and just retire dude, you want to be able to walk in 5 years don't you?
