18 years of service have made Shaquille O'Neal a patriarch. That guy is old. I mean he has to be around 40 by know. Which makes you ask: How does he do it?
I don't think that the strength and ability to play for so long can be defined. Some guys like Rick Fox leave the game when they get to around 30, they just stop. Others like Shaquille O'Neal and Steve Nash, age 36, seem to have a fountain of youth in their backyard. Sometimes I just sit and wonder what Shaq thinks about knowing that he has the record for the longest basketball career in the history (18 years).
To have longevity in basketball is truly a blessing. So to all the basketball players out there, your days are numbered. Love life and play the game of basketball. Don't spend all your time looking for sponsors and making other people happy when you're miserable. Rule #1 to everything: don't listen to anyone but yourself.
