I am pretty sure the teams with shoe string budgets were not happy about making it to the last lap of the race only to get crashed out by a feud that has nothing to do with them.

What do you tell a team that just lost their main car and has to pull out their backup and only have money to put put around the track and put time in till they get enough money to make a competitive car to put out there?

I know I am one of the first to bash the Start and Parkers but allowing 2 overgrown babies to wreck the Parkers gear and then bash them for not being competitive.

I understand if it was a racing wreck and unfortunate things happen but to see Carl Edwards interview afterwards there was no doubt he did it on purpose and he had no regrets doing it.

So what do you tell the teams who lost their cars that had nothing to do with the feud?

Sorry about luck?

I know if one of the lesser teams took a crack at Carl next race and said  hey that was for last week there would be hell to pay. A lesser team taking out a driver who is contending for the Championship? NASCAR would have that driver in the trailer in a heart beat.

Are we treating the two sides fairly?

As long as you are a top billing driver have at it.

If you are not you are just cannon fodder and be prepared to lose your racing gear for no good reason.

The flip side could even be worse. A lesser team gets away with crashing out a lead team? You take out Carl next race I have 2 older but pretty decent race cars and a few bucks so you can race the following week, how about it?

Hired guns taking out top teams. Might not as far fetched as you may think.

It is truly amazing what resides in my head some days.
Never said it always made sense ..... but maybe it does ........

k, the fair here in Texas comes 1nce a year in the fall!! LOL Someone earlier said Brad bumped Carl but he held on. If Brad want's to play with the big boys, he better learn how to hang on too! Sorry, but I see no harm, no foul. And I'm not a big fan of Carl...

Kodiak, maybe we're both getting senile, but I was wondering that too. The two big bad Sprint Cup boys have to mix and it and end up taking half the field out. If I'm one of the lesser drivers I might be tempted to "tap" Brad and/or Carl at some point in the next race. The only trouble is, their teams have so much money it won't bother them at all, but you might end up taking out a struggling team in the process. It's not fair but life seldom is.

Good grief Kodiak....why did you have to hit my sympathy buttons, when I was all out enjoying Carl's take no prisoners style of driving......
Seriously you make some good points about those outside the fued.

You also have to realize I am dealing with not much news and grasping at straws here.
I will see if I can come up with something better tomorrow.
I would not have as much problem with the feud if it was in Cup because they can afford a little bit more money .... but I keep pulling for the little guy and if he can not get onto the track because of buttheads trashing their gear because their want to show the world they are King of the hill .......

NASCAR officials are reviewing whether to punish Carl Edwards for... Intentionally wrecking Brad Keselowski on the last lap of Saturday night's Nationwide race at Gateway, multiple sources told ESPN.com.

A decision will be made Tuesday or Wednesday.

Edwards received a three race probation from NASCAR in March for sending Keselowski's car into an airborne flip in the final laps of the Sprint Cup race at Atlanta....."We made it very clear to Edwards that these actions were not acceptable," NASCAR President Mike Helton said in March. "We believe Edwards understands our position at this point.

NASCAR may have had effort of Carl Edwards...causing wrecks.....I guessing NASCAR will place Carl on Probation till the end of the year....and then if Carl does it again Points n Park.

Warning , warning means nothing

even super secret probation is meaningless.

I usually line up with you fairly well K, but I think this time you've gone a bit out there. No doubt, a Hire Gun could slueth around quietly just lurking for the opportunity for the dastardly task. But it would need to be somebody with little or no regard for the continuation of their racing career.

as far as the start and parkers losing their equipment to the acts of the spoiled big boys fueding, thats tough, but its simply "collateral damage".

What worries me, more, is that somebody is gonna call a lawyer and drag this **** into court, and ruin nearly everything.

Hired Guns....in Nationwide ;) could be the K Gang....(The Brother) #26 Brian Keselowski K-Automotive Motorsports and/or #92 Dennis Setzer K-Automotive Motorsports Dodge or maybe (Dad) Bob Keselowski, should put the driver suit back on, he only 58, ARCA champion in 1989, drove in NASCAR Truck Series, won one in 1997.

July 20, 2010  09:24 AM ET

NASCAR has a problem....that they created....pay back time....Edwards makes the CHASE....Brad K does a payback in a Chase race....then What, NASCAR...remember you only gave a three race probation to Carl for Atlanta....so NASCAR you should not come down harder then that on Brad...right!

You sent a shiver down my spine with that comment. I'm sure some one has thought about it, but decided against it. I'm also sure that NASCAR would do everything the could to quash any law suit because it would just suck the life out of the sport. Still . . . . . .

They do not need a "hired gun" to take out Carl Edwards as long as Steven Wallace is on the track. Also, isn't it great that Cousin Carl is doing so well in the Nationwide series? I cannot remember the last Sprint Cup race he won. Has it been in the last 2 years? Nova, I do like the thought of Brad K. wrecking Carl in the first few chase races just to make sure he has no shot (even though he has no shot).

Winner take all race: Spinout Sam, Robby Gordon, JPM, Cousin Karl, Little Stevie Wallace, Kyle Busch (remember him?)(Kyle will likely step up and do something brash this weekend. Carl has gotten all the attention this week and KB can't handle not being in the spotlight).

Race format: 5 lap "Green/White/Checkers" restarts until there is only one car left. Should only take two attempts, maybe three.

Carl knows he won't be winning a Gimmick this year for sure.

July 21, 2010  04:49 PM ET

This makes no sense.
That would mean rival teams secretly funding the opposition.
If "hired guns" consist of teams outside the top 12 in the Chase or outside the top 35 in points, then why worry about funding? The "hired guns" would still make their money off the rivals who hire them and could still be able to field a car off the rivals money.
Unless they're so ignorant they'd do it for less.
