The comeback is complete. The Sox, who seem to relish being in this situation (Is it all teams, or just the Sox and Pats who embrace being given the titles of underdogs?), once again complete one of the greatest comebacks in major league post-season history. It was another outstanding effort by the Sox, one that was capped by the offensive fireworks of 'lil Dustin Pedroia, who one of these days is going to come out of his cleats when he swings.
The Indians are history and the upstart Colorado Rockies (who may never lose another game) are the future. As for the Indians, congratulations on a great season and I'll admit it, I'm a sympathetic sap. Even though it's my Red Sox, the team I've lived and died with for over 30 years, who are advancing to the promised land, I still feel bad for the players and fans of the Tribe. Probably because I myself have been there so many times. Stay positive Tribe fans, one day your time will come.
You've gotta think that Cleveland was a pretty positive place to be a week ago Tuesday, with the Indians faithful making hotel and flight reservations to the Mile High City with visions of the Fall Classic dancing in their heads. But today, they're waking up with a headache and a major hangover, wondering (or hoping to forget) what happened over the past four days and who stole their World Series dreams.
So it will be the surging Red Sox against the upstart Rockies, a team that wasn't even on the playoff radar six weeks ago. Relish this moment Red Sox fans. Enjoy the euphoria for a couple of days and remember that the Sox have Josh Beckett going on Wednesday night. Speaking of Beckett, unless the Sox win the first 3 games of the Series, I can't see how the big Texan doesn't get slated to start games 1,4 and 7. How can you not go with this guy three times in the World Series?
Thanks to Dennis and Callahan for the following joke:
Q: What do the Colorado Rockies and the New England Patriots have in common?
A: They both played intrasquad games yesterday.
For those not in the know, Denver was hit with four inches of snow yesterday and the Rockies held an indoor intrasquad game. And for the Pats, who at one point looked like they might crack the 100 point barrier while jumping out to a 42 to 7 lead in a 49 to 28 laugher over the Miami Dolphins of the Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly known as Division I-A), enough said.
Keep the faith Red Sox fans. And let the games begin.
I'm out.

What moron would label the BoSox or the Pats as underdogs?

Downey. Have you been sleeping for the past seven years? Bill Belichick thrives on making the Pats seem like underdogs or by telling them that the world is against them, whether it's true or not.
You don't think he's using the fact that everyone (again, whether it's true or not) is referring to their 3 Super Bowls as tainted as motivation? Guaranteed, 100% he is. He's a master motivator.
As for the Sox, were they not in an underdog role when they were down 3 games to 1? Who had the upper hand there? The team that had to just win one more game to advance or the team that was one-and-done?
