Just a quick assesment of the team thus far. Please leave your feedback and opinions on what you think about the team.
Quarterbacks: F
Weatherford is not the answer and Lee isn't either. We can either have a guy who is consistent at 3 and outs, or a guy who is a great athlete, but plays scared to death, turns the ball over, and can't make a 5 yard throw. Shall we take a look at Richardson or Ponder?
Running Backs: B
People have been knocking Smith big time, but I think we all know the problem lies in the offensive line. Although he did have the big fumble on Saturday, Smith is a playmaker.
Offensive Line: D-
They have gotten a little better as the season progresses, but penalties and lack of run blocking are still the biggest problem on the team.
Wide Receivers: B+
Never would have thought the strength of our offense would be the WRs, but the emergence of a star in Preston Parker has me praising this group. Not to mention Carr and **** being more consistent as well.
Defensive Line: B+
I would easily give this unit an A if it wasn't for stupid penalties in key situations. That personal foul was kind of a chicken s.h.i.t. call, but it was still unnecesary. Regardless, this is still the best unit on the team by a longshot.
Linebackers: D-
Aside from popular denial, this is the worst group of linebackers FSU has had in maybe 20 years. They dissapear play after play. They can't tackle, they can't read plays, they can't cover, and they are all severly undersized. Can't remember his name, but the Juco transfer, number 31 must weigh about 160 lbs. When he ran the pick back for a score, I would have bet my **** he was a safety or a corner. How can we have guys this small playing linebacker at FSU? Geno Hayes will make a nice TFL every once in a while, but he is way overated. I see him get eaten up by blocks or run himself out of the play too often. This whole group needs work big time. Good thing we have a couple blue chips coming in next year with great size to compliment their speed. I'm not sure if we can attribute the LB deficit to coaching, but they have shown no ablitity to make plays this season.
Secondary: C
This unit has played well at times. Patrick Robinson is going to be one hell of a player. He is an athlete at 6'2". He can cover well, has nice hands, and comes up and makes plays on the run. Roger Williams wouldn't start for any other D-1 program in the country, so I'm not sure why he is starting for us. Garvin isn't bad, but he is 5'8", so any WR with size uses him. Myron Rolle has been a dissapointment. I keep waiting on a breakout game from this kid, but he keeps getting beat, and now he is missing tackles and just hasn't contributed like the number 1 overall recruit should in his sophmore season. Tony Carter has been exposed as being overated after his solid year last season.
Coaches: C
Can't blaim them too much. All most all of them are new, and they inherited a program in trouble. I have disagreed with some of the play calling on offense, but i want to give Fisher some time to straighten things out. Still not happy with Andrew's approach in key situations, but that is nothing new.
Unless there are drastic changes FSU is looking at 6-6, flirting with missing a bowl game. I really don't see that we have an answer this season. Hopefully they can salvage something and win a big game or 2. We shall see!

I did leave out that the biggest problem with this team continues to be the inability to make a play when the game is on the line (on either side of the ball). How many times over the years have we called on the defense to come up with a stop late in the game against Miami, and they go right down the field and score at will? Think about it

Nice report, as much as I'd like to disagree. The linebackers situation is becoming clearer and clearer. All day Saturday we dominated the stats column...even in rushing. Antone Smith had a 100 yard rushing day!

Records are meant to be broken, but I think it's a given nobody else will ever beat this record since coaches don't start as young as Bobby & Joe Pa anymore...so whoever clinches it will hold it forever.
I didn't even realize we didn't punt til you just said that. Turnovers were awful. 5 for us and 4 for Miami I think. Wow....in a bad way.

I have absolutely noi arguments with the Defensive assesment at all. Seems to be right on the mark. Myron Rolle has been invisible unless he's getting beat on Cover two or whatever...The Linebackers have been brutal, too many missed tackles. D-Line has been good, but as a unit they again fail to come up big when needed. Your way, way too harsh on the QB's. Neither one is a starter...but we do have 4 wins and I would have given them a D. The O-Line is finally showing signs of life, but the ability of the RB's to get anything done rests with them. I would only give the Recievers a C. Preston Parker has stepped up to be the go to guy....so what has happened to Greg Carr and De'Cody **** ??? There's a little voice in my head and I'm sure a few NFL scouts hearing the words "overrated". Both need to step it up. This is a C- team, with the teeth of the schedule upon them. Across the line, all of it...its time for players at each position to step up and be counted. Your Seminoles...find out what that means. Go to a Reservation and talk with the people. Find out what the word "Unconquered" means.

any team that drafts Carr or F.a.g.g. has a reasoning beyond mine! i just said they were more consistent because f.a.g.g. coudlnt catch a beach ball or throw a block in a kindergarden class, then he came up huge in the bama game and i havent seen him drop one since. carr is still a pansy, but he does do the deep jump ball nice.
way too hard on the qbs? we have 4 wins and are headed for 5-7. what good can come out of having weatherford at qb? plenty of good can come out of having lee at qb, but plenty of bad also when any hit he takes causes a fumble and he throws 3, 5 yard passes in a row into the dirt

EJ Manuel next year!! The O-line will get better under Trickett... and LB's are better than a D-... You are dead on with Roger Williams... terrible. And Rolle has been non-existent, although he did show off some speed catching the Miami back Sat...

Thanks for the feedback Powers......im definitely excited about the future as well (manuel, bradham, carr, etc).
we will agree to disagree with the linebackers, cuz ive never seen a group this bad at fsu, can u name one? they are all under 220 and are non-existent for most of every game (i think nicholson is listed at 230, which means hes under 220). the verdell kid doesnt even weigh 200....he's a corner playing linebacker, lol
