Baylor

Review:  The Bears hung with Texas for quite a while but Texas eventually pulled away.  The Bears D got 2 interceptions off of McCoy, but also killed themselves with an interception that the Horns returned for a TD.

Preview:  Baylor has to take on a streaky Kansas State team.  If the studly Josh Freeman shows up, the Bears don't really have a shot.  If the bad Josh Freeman shows up, the Bears have a shot at the upset, especially if they play like they did the first half this week against Texas.  PREDICTION: K-State 34 Baylor 13--The Cats bounce back from the tough loss to Okie State and please the home crowd in Manhattan.

Colorado

Review:  Colorado faced a questionable team in Kansas this week, but the Hawks are still undefeated which counts for something no matter how easy the schedule is.  In this defensive battle, Colorado just couldn't get past a stingy KU defense.

Preview:  The Buffs have a tough game @ Texas Tech this week.  The Red Raiders have a great offense but was exposed last week against Mizzou.  If the Buffaloes can win the turnover battle they have a legitamite shot at taking the Raiders down in Lubbock.  Prediction:  Texas Tech 45 Colorado 27--The Buffs can't quite stop the TTU offense but hang with them till the third quarter when Tech starts to pull away.

Iowa St.

Review:  Held a very good Oklahoma team to zero first half points, but got shutout in the second half.  The Cyclones showed that they weren't quite as bad as their 1-7 record indicates but they still aren't a threat to win the North.

Preview:  The Cyclones have to go to Columbia, Missouri to take on a very good Missouri team.  If the Cyclones can somehow slow down the Mizzou offense and force a lot of turnovers they still have only a slim chance.  Prediction:  Missouri 52 Iowa State 13--The Cyclones can't slow down the potent Mizzou offense and the Cyclones get killed.

Kansas

Review:  The Jayhawks played a decent at best Colorado team in Boulder and won by 5.  It was a defensive battle and KU came out of Boulder with an OK win at the most.  But you still have to give credit to the Hawks for winning a close one.

Preview:  Kansas has to go to College Station and take on the Aggies of Texas A&M.  If they can stop Javorskie Lane and get their offense going, it helps them out alot.  They also have to stay under control and not get rattled by the A&M crowd.  Prediction:  Texas A&M 17 Kansas 14--The Hawks suffer their first loss of the year once they finally face some decent competion.

Kansas St.

Review:  The Wildcats lost a heartbreaker @ Oklahoma State with the Cowboys hitting a last second field goal.  The defense didn't look too good but Freeman had a career day.  This was a really tough loss for the Cats because if they had won this one, they would have a much better shot at the North title but now they are on the outside looking in.

Preview:  The Wildcats take on the Baylor Bears in Manhattan this weekend.  The Cats should be able to get some confidence out of this game as long as Freeman has an OK game.  Prediction:  Kansas State 34 Baylor 13--The Bears are unable to stop Freeman who has a good game and the Cats stop the Baylor offense.

Missouri

Review:  The Tigers had a huge win for homecoming against the number one rated offense of Texas Tech.  They held them to zero second half points and the running game, even without starter Tony Temple came up big.  The D made 4 interceptions and returned one for a touchdown against a "heisman candidate" in Graham Harrell.

Preview:  Mizzou plays Iowa State this weekend at "The Zou" in Columbia.  Unless Iowa State plays the best game of their season, this one goes to Mizzou with their high powered offense and their ever-improving defense.  Prediction:  Mizzou 52 Iowa State 13--The Tigers stomp on the Cyclones in this one with Chase Daniel returning to Heisman candidate form.

Nebraska:

Review:  The Huskers lost once again in Lincoln by more than 20 points.  They hung with the Aggies for a while but Javorskie Lane and the Aggies proved to be too much for this team that is currently falling apart.

Preview:  Nebraska has to go to Austin to take on the Texas Longhorns.  If Calahan gives the pep talk of his career I still don't know if the Cornhuskers can even come close to Texas.  Prediction:  Texas 45 Nebraska 13

Oklahoma

Review:  The Sooners were shutout in the first half against lowly Iowa State but finally got it back on track just in time to take control at the end.  OU showed that they are vulnerable when they are away from Norman but proved that they have what it takes to win in a close game.

Preview:  Bye week

Oklahoma St.

Review:  The Cowboys got a good win against K-State even though it was on a last second field goal.  They showed they had the poise to drive down the field with the clock against them and win a game against a good team.

Preview:  Bye week

Texas

Review:  Texas had a tough time with Baylor for about a half but eventually showed that they were the much better team.  McCoy had two interceptions which hurt them but the D did well and Texas dominated the second half of this game.

Preview:  The Horns get Nebraska this week.  They should win this game in convincing fashion as long as Colt McCoy doesn't turn it over too much and the Horns D can contain Marlon Lucky, probably the Huskers best player.  Prediction:  Texas 45 Nebraska 13--The Horns defense comes up big, containing Husker running back Lucky and they offense plays very well against a struggling Nebraska team.

Texas A&M

Review:  The Aggies won handily in Lincoln against Nebraska.  Javorskie Lane had a good day and the defense played well enough to win this one convincingly.

Preview:  A&M has a tough game coming up against the Jayhawks from Lawrence, Kansas.  No one is sure if the team from Lawrence is for real but the Aggies can't underestimate them.  The Aggies need to slow down Todd Reesing and make him beat them through the air rather than the ground.  Prediction:  Texas A&M 17 Kansas 14--The Aggies hand the Hawks their first loss of the year with good D and an offensive performance that is just good enough to win.

Texas Tech

Review:  The Texas Tech Red Raiders had a tough loss versus Missouri.  Their offense was held to 10 points, a season low.  Graham Harrell was also held to a season low with 397 yards passing.  There was one season high for the Tech offense though, Harrell threw 4 interceptions...The D just couldn't stop the Mizzou running game.

Preview:  TTU plays the Colorado Buffaloes in Lubbock this weekend.  It looks to be a tough game for TTU but if their offense shows up they can beat the Buffs pretty good.  Prediction:  Texas Tech 45 Colorado 27--The Buffs stay close for a while but the Raiders offense is too much for them to handle.

Agreed. They have tons of talent but he can't seem to get it working together...

Do you think Franchione at A&M is gone? I kinda think he is

October 22, 2007  10:36 PM ET

Could be but I wouldn't say it's quite over yet, he could beat KU this week and finish out the season pretty good and get one more year....but if the season ended today i think he is gone.
