It's finally here. The World Series. The finale of the long baseball season.
I must say I'm fortunate because for the second time in four years my favorite team is in it.
Actually, for the second time in four years my team will win it.
Everyone loves the Rockes story, including me, but that was all against National League competition.
They are going to be awestruck at Fenway for Game 1 when Beckett takes the mound. They'll be thinking, "so this is what real playoff pitching is like."
I know, I know. The Rockies came to Fenway and took two out of three vs. the Sox in June. And one of those wins was against Beckett. But this isn't June. This is October at Fenway. The Rockies will lose their first playoff game of '07 tonight.
Game 2 could go Colorado's way. They are a team on fire, and losing two in a row right here doesn't sound right.
I then expect the Sox to take games 3 and 5, with the Rockies winning game 4. I'm just thinking about the Sox bats in the Coors Field air. Let's see if Manny Ramriez can hit one 600 feet and watch the ball until it falls. Wow.
The Sox should then wrap everything up in Game 6, celebrating on home turf. Watch for the third installment of Papelbon's river dance, or whatever that atrocious movement he does really is. But it's all worth it. When you win it all, you can do whatever you want.
So I'll make the prediction of Red Sox in 6.
I'll also say the MVP will be Beckett, winning two games (1 and 5). If it's an offensive player, I'll go with someone hot like Kevin Youkilis. He's just killing the ball in the postseason.
The Rockies had a magical ride, but it had to end somewhere. Go Sox!

Yeah dude, they were so awestruck that they took 2 of 3 from you yahoos in Fenway during the season, outscoring you 20-5 for the series. Look it up and get real Redsox homer.
