Hello my friends, and critics out there in Fannation land.
I am what I call, a philosophical sports fan. If you haven't guessed it from my nickname yet, I am a fan of philosophy and a fan of sports. But that is not why I call myself, and others like me a philosophical sports fan. Sports can be measured in wins and losses, statistics, monies earned, and other such minute measures, and you wouldn't be wrong in doing so. But I love sports for another purpose. Sports is one of those rare glues that bind society together. People and nations unite through sports. Sports can solve issues that centuries of conflict could not. It is unity not through conquer, but through kinship. If you've noticed, my throwdowns are never about who's right or wrong...but debating about ideas that direct life and sport in general.
From Mohammed Ali fighting the institution for his beliefs, to basketball reuniting protestants and catholics in Northern Island...let us find unity through sports.
