Possible Coaches for the future of NU

I've gotten a few emails regarding the possible future coaches and who might be interested.  I've done a bit of homework this week and have almost come up blank.  I have heard that some feelers have been sent out, but there seems to be no large scale search going on yet, which is in line with TO's statement that he would look at the situation after the season.

One thread that myself and everybody else in Huskerland is completely interested in is the possibility of Bo Pelini coming back.  I heard rumors this week that Bo was contacted, but there was no confirmation.  I did hear it from several different sources, so I am fairly confident that the contact was made.  I think that Bo is probably the best choice, simply due to the fact that he has the desire to prove himself.  He has the fire, the energy, and the confidence to lead a team.  His Tigers at LSU love him, we loved him and most NU fans were ready to string up both Callahan and Pedersen when he was let go.  Especially after what his defense did to us the following season against OU.

I haven't heard much about Turner Gill's interest in the job.  I think that he would be a fan pick and that would not necessarily be the best pick.  He was a great player and assistant coach under TO, but in the several schools that he has landed at since leaving, his record isn't all that spectacular.  As a fan, I'd say thanks but no thanks to his addition to the team.

I did hear Mike Stoops named a couple of times as well.  What do you think about that?

I wish that I had more info right now, but as you've read on most sites, these are the two fan picks.  These are the most talked about in most blog posts about taking over the program.

If anybody hears anything let me know and I will update this as needed.

First, Tommie Frazier is spelled "Tommie" not Tommy.
Second, Tommie Frazier is not a top candidate for the job. You are probably thinking of another former Nebraska Quarterback, that would be Turner Gill, Head Coach of University of Buffalo. From what I've heard through the "pipeline" is Turner Gill is a top candidate for the job if Callahan is fired ( I pray that happens). Also, don't rule out Navy's Paul Johnson who runs a spread-option offense, which would be a good fit in Lincoln. This is a good fit because the wind gusts at Memorial Stadium can get a bit crazy and T.O. stuck with this game plan for many of years. Another good reason Johnson would be a good fit is he graduates his players and he also had success had D-2 Georgia Southern, winning a couple of National Champions there. All I have to say is, Husker Nation guessed who the "next savior'' was going to be when Solich was fired by the previous A.D. (I never want to speak of him agian). We got our hopes up and where did it land us, top of recruiting, laughing stock of the Big 12. I hope the next search is more effective and more long term.
