I know some people hate road races and do not want them in the season let alone in the Chase.

Once the Chase begins we get in the cookie cutter tracks and it becomes whoever is on a roll and can keep their cars off the wall or  together ,  they steadily pull away and within 5 races we usually know who is gonna win it. I am sure sometime down the road we see someone get into a bad case of luck and lose it but that has not happened as of yet.

Now throw in a Road Race into the Chase.

If the points are tight a Raod Race  certainly could throw the Chase on its ear. I am not sure it would be wise to have the Road course as the last race but somewhere in the middle. So if something wild does happen to let a team recover from whatever happened there and make the rest of the Chase interesting to see if a team can recover.

Maybe I am just talking off the top of my head.

Yes to a Road Race?

No should not even be in NASCAR?

Any other opinions?

I think having a road course in the chase is a great idea. I would go one futhrer and change up the last ten races every year. This way noone has a real advantage over anyone else.

I agree with manimal. I like road courses, they are more of a challenge and it shows who the more complete drivers are. I'm not going to downplay how hard it is to race on an oval, but a road course adds a completely different dimension. Bring back Sebring and put it in the Chase!

I think that if you're going to have a chase, all the races should be diverse. Bull ring, short, intermediate, super speedway and road courses.

A.J. Is one of those drivers in my eyes that just might not have gotten a fair shake.
At the age 29 and the equipment that I will say is not top of the line gear in my eyes he is doing pretty good.
Montoya is decent and would be better if he could get his temper under control but he is entertaining to watch.
Ambrose ..... he is not one of my favs that is for sure.
Jimmie has shown he is not infallible but he has improved his road racing.

I can jump on board of this one with both feet.
Darlinton Stripe would be great in the Chase.
I am not sure why it was bad to see black marks on the walls.

My favorite idea I think was Nova's and it was to use the Daytona track which has the infield and would both road race and oval in the same race.
That would show who really had talent and would be a great finish to the season

I think it would be a good idea for the chase, but I do not want to see ANOTHER RC race added to do so.

Breaking News ;) It Official ;) Kasey Kahne will drive a Red Bull Racing Team Toyota in 2011, the team announced.

"We were fortunate to have the opportunity to hire a very talented driver for the 2011 season and we took it," said Jay Frye,

Statement from Rick Hendrick: "Kasey is going to a competitive organization that made the Chase last season and has great leadership and resources,"

And Red Bull has a contact with TOYOTA for next year...so Kahne to TOY

No word on who the Other Red Bull driver will be, Vickers, Speed, or __?___

August 10, 2010  10:49 AM ET

Also ;) It's a boy for Gordon: From JeffGordon.com, "Announcing the arrival of Leo Benjamin, born to the proud parents Jeff Gordon & Ingred Vandebosch, August 9, 2010 at 8:52am, 7 lbs, 2oz, 19in."

So NASCAR CUP champion in 2033 Leo Gordon....if there is a NAPCAR

Congrats to Jeff and his family
and I was not really expecting Kasey to Red Bull.
Someone had pointed out yesterday on TandR that Red Bull was competition to Amp and that made sense to me that Kasey would not end up there.
Also Toyota being competitive to GM as well.
Shows you how much I know.
Strange bed fellows to say the least
Thanks Nova for the updates

congrats Jeffy, but, "Leo"?????

Better than Moonunit or some of the other warped names celebs have come up with but sure would not have been my first choice

Maybe.

Wow, how is Rick going to feel if the Red Bull Toyotas do better than his teams next year? If Vickers comes back healthy, they could both contend next year...

August 10, 2010  06:01 PM ET

And NOVA, you always seem to find the buried facts. Is Rick "paying" Casey to drive for Red Bull? Is he "renting" him to Red Bull for the year?

I just have a hard time understanding why you would "park" your driver not only with a competitor, but another manufacturer as well. At least if he was with another Chevy team they could share info...

Wild story!

So all of a sudden Montoya, Ambrose, and Allmindinger are "the more complete drivers"??I can't imagine what the folks were thinking in 1991 when Nascar went to Watkins Glen.As for the Chase ..... I hate the Chase, Go ahead include a road race.... Drop Talladega .. it would be an equitable choice.

I wouldn't go that far, mainly because they haven't won enough of the speedway races. But I look a drivers like Gordon, Stewart and Kurt Bush as being more complete because they are competitive on road courses.

I understand that you don't like road courses. To each his own.
