I didn't write this in time for it to be a World Series preview, but the sooner I write it the better.
ESPN's Around the Horn and PTI shows touched upon this on Wednesday. In Boston, and in many parts of the country, people automatically think the Red Sox have the advantage against their opponent, while knowing little or nothing about the Rockies. As Dan Le Betard mentioned on PTI, the Rockies are reminiscent of the '03 Marlins, when no one knew who Josh Beckett or any of the other Marlins were. Now, of course, Beckett is pitching for the Red Sox, and everyone forgets about the Rockies. Maybe the Rockies have only been on one of the biggest hot streaks in the history of baseball because they play in the NL. However, you can't count them out, even after a 13-1 loss in game 1 yesterday.
I'm not some crazed Yankees fan mad about Joe Torre's firing or jealous about the success of the Red Sox. In fact, I'm more of a Yankees hater than I am a fan of any team. I think the Yankees and their rivalry with the Sox is exposed too much. At least it is where I live, which isn't exactly the ideal place to live as a Yankees hater.
I usually don't mind Red Sox fans that much, but it's times like this that really start to bug me: When they're so confident that they have the edge against their opponents that they say the series is over before it starts. The Sox might've had the advantage before game 1 last night, and they definately dominated, but the attitude of their fans is what makes Red Sox and Yankees fans more alike than they think.

I'm a Yankee fan, and I'm counting them out. The Red Sox are too good for this young team that was due to cool down sometime. Wish I could say something else but...

Mac. lol
I think you need to re-title this blog. It has very little relevance to the World Series. But well written.
I'm a Boston fan, and I expected us to win, but unlike those of whom you speak, I know very much about Colorado. They simply don't stand up statistically to the Red Sox. However, I know this is just one example, whereas Sox fans do it often.

If I supposedly fit the bill of one of those arrogant and ignorant Sox fans than why is it that I am one that says the series will go 6 games? Have you NOT been paying attention to my comments in the Chat Room, Cardsox?

This is going to 6 or 7. The Rockies could very well even up this series against a not who he used to be Curt Schilling

Fundamental problem for the Rockies...they're not here because they're a dominant hitting & pitching team. They're here because they're a middle-of-the-division team that put together a phenomenal winning streak in September.
I don't say that to take anything away from them. If you're in, you deserve it. But taking a week off robbed them of the one advantage they had over the Sox: momentum.
Take that away--and it HAS been taken away--and the Red Sox are clearly the stronger team. I don't see this Series going past five games.

BTW...the definition of an "obnoxious" or "arrogant" fan?
Someone who's team is winning.
