A few years ago, Ubaldo Jimenez was touted by Rockies scouts for his live arm and great control at a young age.  He was drafted as a 17-year-old in 2001, and made an impression right away by K'ing 65 batters in only 62 IP.  He followed that up by winning 10 games and striking out 138 in 152 innings.

Ubaldo Jimenez

He might have made it into the bigs a lot sooner had a right shoulder strain not knocked him out in 2004 only a few pitches into the season.  After rehabbing his way back, Jimenez finally got the call in August to join the big league team and take Jason Hirsh's spot.  He hit a few road bumps but pitched great to end the season and join the playoff roster.

For those who haven't seen this kid pitch, he's the real deal.  High 90's (touching 100 mph at times), great changeup, but best of all he's fearless.  He'll throw strikes and challenge hitters.

I think he'll keep the Sox bats off balance tonight and send his club home with a split.  He'll make headlines tomorrow morning.

My pick-He will struggle very much. He is young, his young team is down 1-0 to a powerhouse in Boston, and he is pitching in Fenway. Oh..yeah, and that guy by the name of Curt Schilling is against him. Blowout by the Red Sox.

Cole, are you really that enamoured with Schilling lately? He's gonna get knocked around. He's been walking a tightrope lately.

Jimenez will surprise you tonight. The kid won't wilt.

I dont know chalk, a born and bred yankee fan predicting a game 2 redsox demise? I will give you the benefit of the doubt and say you really believe it and not just blogging to support what you wish will happen. I hope you are right, by the way.

I hear you Cassidy -- looks like total BS coming from a Yankee fan. Thank you for trusting I'm being genuine. I just see the Rockies bats waking up tonight and Jimenez floating under the radar on his way to a win.

While I do like the Rockies tonight, I do also still like the Sox in 6.

The kid hasnt been great during the reg. season or post season. He's young, in Fenway and facing a lineup that is SCORCHING hot right now.

Jiminez wont last very long.

Schilling might not pitch all that great either, but good enough.

Even if the Sox win tonight, or the Rockies for that matter, I still see the series going 6 games.
