According to NASCAR.com, Terry Labonte is making his NASCAR return.  The two time champion will be running three races with a partnership with non other than Bill Stavola, the man that entered cars for rookie's Dick Trickle and Jeff Burton as well as giving a ride to Bobby Allison.

Will Terry Labonte have enoughgas in the tank to make some good runs as an owner/driver?  Will a team owner who hasn't entered a car in a decade still have the knowledge to make a go of this indeaver?  There are many questions to ask, but both Terry and Bill plan on doing even more races in '11 so they don't want this to be just a one year thing.  It will be interesting to watch this pan out.

I always found Terry to be interesting as a blank sheet of paper but he did have skill or he would not be a past Champion.
You have people like Mark Martin who has not won 1 yet so it must not be that easy.
I will put my support behind anyone who is trying to put a full time ride out there rather than a SandP

Kodiak I feel the same way as you do about Bobby.......btw just a few weeks ago he was at Humberstone Raceway (btw Port Colborne and Fort Erie, hwy 3).
Like you, I too support anyone trying to get a team and full time ride together.....as for Stavola, once racing is in your blood, you keep your mind in it, with or without team ownership. I am sure that part will be solid......sponsors and funding will be the struggle.
Labonte has maintained a fairly good race reputation considering his ongoing mediocre finishes....unlike Martin, who still has wins now and again, along with top 5's and 10's finishes.

I hope Labonte is successful.

No disrespect meant to Terry Labonte, he HAD a great career, but this is yet another reason to Junk or revise drastically the past champions' "provisional".

That said, if he can qualify on his time and does not S&P, Welcome Back!

Good Morning.
Friday the 13th which means it is a nuthouse in Port Dover
I live right on Highway 3 about a hour from Dover and my house has been loud for about a hour and half already with bikes on their way to there.
Laugh at the whine of the crotch rockets compared to the thump of the Harley's.
They have been going by for the last 3 days but today is the big rush on the way there.

August 13, 2010  09:03 AM ET

Wow, Has Terry been racing ANYWHERE in the last few years? With all the recent layoffs in NASCAR, I guess there's enough good talent to field a team. I agree with LittleE that sponsors are going to be the challenge.

Kodiak, I;ve been there in the past. Had a bike buddy up in Hamilton, would run up there, meet up, then party in Port Dover. Way fun!

and I still subscribe to "Loud Pipes Save Lives"

Just come back from my daily walk beside the road.
Holy Cow
You get the lone wolves going by.
Honda and Yamaha cruisers quite as sin with older folks on them because they are the only ones who can afford them in packs of 3 to 5.
Young bucks on their neon coloured bikes with leather in colours leather has no right to be in. Yellows , Blues Greens in packs never more than 10ish.
Then the Harley's
Packs of 5 , 10 , 20 , 40
Can not talk to the wife
Can not think
Motors stealing your oxygen
Stink of unburnt gas and oil
Brain a tingle from lack of oxygen , chemicals in air
Awwwooohooooo
American Thunder for a reason
I was howling at a older lady , cut off jeans t-shirt on a older small bike putting along. Join or not not attitude. Got to love it.
Bikes and trikes.
Old and new.
Gonna get out chair and sit by the road.
I will probably never go to Dover because crowds drive me batty but watching them go by the house is cool

Back to Terry ;)... still have the knowledge to make a go of this endeavor? None needed... From Jayski.... the new team technology and equipment provided through their partnership with RCR built Chevrolet and ECR built power plants. So it a satellite RCR team.

#10 Gander Mountain Chev on Sept. 11 in Richmond, followed by Oct. 16 in Charlotte and finishing on Nov. 7 at Labonte's home track in Texas.

Gander Mountain, hunting, fishing, sporting goods

Also best quote ;) Why the switch to the #07 for Robby Gordon?

Robby said, "Why am I in the #07 this weekend? Because the #7 is already in the show.

I feel most comfortable trying to qualify it myself than someone else. Can't have anymore wrecked race cars especially during practices.

August 13, 2010  11:17 AM ET

RCR had problems with going to a 4 car team before and had to scale back.
So next year they are going back to 4 cars which I think will not have to worry about sponsorship because the the worst driver out of the bunch has a locked up sponsor with Daddy so that should be rock solid.
Now RCR is gonna explain basically 2 cars when you add in a Satellite
I hope this does work because I would love to see another top flight team to compete against the like of Hendrick , Roush , Gibbs ....

I will be sitting in my lawn chair, Budwieser in hand, on sunday, September 5 and watch the local ABATE chapter MDA ride for Jerry's kids. Biggest in the area, did it for 20 years, but now watch. Takes them over two hours to pass by, two by two.

hopefully Cabellas will feel they need to have a presence along with BassPro and Gander Mtn. and sponsor someone.

I agree, he HAD. I wish him the best, but I'm a little sketch on the concept they have going on.

I love seeing the older drivers. I get tired of seeing pimple faces on camera, who probably didnt deserve the ride to begin with. But hey, thats just me...

Don't like seeing past champs having to use the ''provisional'' to get into races.. when you start having to do that.. it usually means you've been around too long and its time to go

Maybe they should start a ''senior circuit''.. like they have in golf
