Kevin is now leading the Cup points and has won a another win under his belt for 3 wins so far this year.

Is Kevin showing he can contend for a Championship  or are the other main dogs holding back?

Can Kevin compete against the likes of Jimmie and stop Jimmie from winning another Championship?

Or is there another driver that you think will the top dog when the dust settles?

There is 3 races left till the Chase

Kevin is definitely a contender.......they say that Chad & JJ hold off the big guns until Chase time....but I am not so sure of that, this year.....I have never seen Kevin so strong...plus JJ seems to be having more car issues this year.....JJ should have rocked this track until the end.

Anyway, Kevin has run consistently good this year and I wish there was special points for that, not because it is Kevin, but for any driver who is consistently good.

Would love to see any driver break the Chad~JJ Lucky Streak and Kevin is the guy to do it.

I agree, Little E. Kevin has driven well, and the equipment has been good all year long. I know they'll need to pick it up in the Chase, but unless he runs into some bad luck I think he'll win it all.

Kevin has been consistent all year. I think getting his contract done went a long way to improving his mental state.

Am I wrong or did he win his first race taking over for Dale...

And I don't think any driver "holds back". These guys are competitive and want to win every race.

Unbiased... I ampretty sure he did win for Sr in the Goodwrench 29.

22GA.....personally, I too, would rather see Jeffy win it all, over Kevin. but so far Kevin has been stronger.....I never used to like Jeff, but he grew on me over the last few years.

NO, not the first, but even more strange the - 3 - third start in Cup, - 3 - weeks after Earnhardt's death, on March 11, 2001, the - 3 - month at Atlanta by narrowly edging Jeff Gordon by .006 seconds.

Dale Earnhardt won at Atlanta, 9 nine time....last win at Atlanta the spring race the year before on 3 / 12 / 2000

And, yes it was in the White #29 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet

August 15, 2010  08:40 PM ET

And the Atlanta win for Havrick, was a mirror image of Earnhardt Win the year before, who beat Bobby Labonte in the JRG #18, by .01

Here is another spin for you if you are into numbers

Earnhardt, Champion 7 times, 1980, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1993, 1994

so only 16 years

Maybe you are thinking ;) Dale won his First one in 1980 3o years ago at the age of 29

Dang! I didn't catch that. I must be losing interest. I saw in recap or whatever that he was still 2nd in points, and assumed he had a decent finish.

you missed some pretty good "crossover" move racing throughout the race as one guy would take the high line, another go low, get passed, then they would swap it around. Not bad at all, "for Michigan"

Thanks for the info NOVA!

I saw plenty of 3 and even 4 wide racing. I thought Gordon was finally looking good for a win. Oh well...

Jeff who finished 27th, got lucky ..... Jeff Burton who 3rd in points, and Kurt Busch 4th in points going into Michigan had bad days also...Burton 24th, and Kurt Busch blew his engine 40th,
