The trade is HIS Larry Johnson for the other guy's Clinton Portis and Reggie Wayne and I say DO IT!
Larry Johnson has been inconsistent and trade him while his value is through the roof. He has collected some easy points against a terrible Bengals and Raiders defenses. The only reason he looked impressive in the Oakland game is because of his 60 yard rush. Before that on 17 carries he only had 34 yards. He got 1 big run and you can't call that a good game. He just doesnt have it anymore. He is getting up there in age and his O line is gone along with his probowl FB. There is absolutley NO presence at QB and the defenses can afford to put 8 people in the box. Also, the addition of Priest Holmes could mean bad news for Larry's playing time.
On the other side of the trade, Clinton Portis is a great fantasy player this year, but he has been basing all of his success on his ability to score touchdowns. The yards just havent been there this year which has to sort of scare you, but at the same time as long as he is still producing at the moment you should press your luck with him. Betts has been absolutley horrible and has been starting to lose more and more carries for his play lately which is a good sign for Portis. IF YOU NEED ANY MORE REASONS TO GET PORTIS, PLEASE OPEN THE NEW ADDITION OF SPORTS ILLUSTRATED.
As for Reggie Wayne, I think he has very little talent and is highly overrated as a football player, but he is great as a fantasy player. He has Peyton and is a prime example of a QB making a WR what he is. Wayne excells in absolutley nothing. He has good hands, average speed, and decent route running. the only reason he succeds so much is because Harrison gets double covered and Peyton can hook any one up with single coverage. None of that acctually matters for fantasy sports though, so he is a great WR with Manning throwing to him.
