First, let me get a few facts out of the way:
1. Fannation has definitely gone down hill dramatically in the last year. I say "year" because I have only been around for a few years and the decline has been significant in this amount of time. I would bet though, that "long term" users would suggest the site has been suffereing longer than that. However, I can't comment on that.
With the obvious dupes, the spammers for sneaker sales, questionable voting, year old TD's still on the board, etc.... things are pretty stale. Truth & Rumors go all weekend without many updates and many of the stories are ridiculous.
The site seems like it is being run by 12 year old girls from Kenya. Does staff realize all the problems they have? Are they just apathetic or simply pathetic?
2. Because of this (and other reasons I suppose), we have lost many good/active users. Guys like David, Porkins, Dyhard, Baunded, etc... have all disappeared for the most part. It's a shame, because in their place we have more sightings of Roy, Deacon, Luckystrike, etc... wasting space and annoying us all.
3. The "vets" I speak of, were all great members of the site and have immense sports knowledge. Kudos to them in that regard.
HOWEVER! When I come to the board today, I see several of the aformentioned "greats" spamming the board and whining like children. Spamming the board with your stupid "TD's" and advertising for another site is only adding to the crap around here. I'm sure your website is a great place, but why wouldn't the mods delete your advertising?
If you went into a Best Buy with a picket sign advertising for Circuit City, I'm guessing you would be asked to leave. If you went into a restuarant handing out coupons for a competitor, you would be asked to leave. It's common sense.
You complain that the mods don't do their jobs (which I agree, they don't), but then when they do, you complain more.
I'm a little disappointed in the actions of some of the "greats" on here, because instead of being legends and disappearing while on top, you have come back to sully your name. It's akin to Rice's time in Seattle or Jordan's in Washington. I fail to see what you can accomplish by acting out. Sure you might garner a few members to jump on your bandwagon, but you also tarnish your legacy for even more.
But hey, what do I know. I'm just some random guy behind a computer screen who thought you guys were pretty impressive in terms of sports knowledge and whatnot. Now it just seems like you guys are smarter versions of Lucky, Deacon and Roy.
