Well, it is pretty much official now. The Carolina Panthers circa 2007 are on their way to yet another mediocre season. I understand that they were playing the defending Super Bowl champions but that is not the point. This team has been finished off due to their quarterback injuries. The Vinny Testaverde era has been exposed for what it is. A one week wonder. I'm sure we all saw that coming though, right? Ah well, as John Fox says "It is what it is." And what that is is yet another overrated, underperforming season.
Now mind you, I understand that this team competes in the NFC South which is very weak this year. But we all know that when a team has serious QB issues it's season is all for naught. Even competing in such a lame division will not save them. But that isn't even what bothers me. What bothers me is the Panthers inability to win at home. They have absolutely no home field advantage. It is a place where other team's fans come in and take over the stadium. It is a place where other teams feel comfortable. They laugh at the Panther faithful. This is a stadium where there are rules where a fan can not take off their shirt. Where they are yelled at by fellow Panther fans if they stand up and yell for the D on 3rd down. Can you imagine that?! How completely weak of the wine and cheese crowd that have purchased the PSLs that financed this home field disadvantage. This team is destined to wallow in mediocrity as long as this continues.
Oh God what have you done by making me a Carolina Panther fan! What hath you wrought?!?!?!?!?
