There was something new in golf this week: Tiger Woods didn't win on Sunday. He won on Monday, the latest victory in the Deutsche Bank Championship coming a day late to mark the Labor Day holiday. This weekend Tiger beat the weather, he beat a resurgent VJ Singh and he beat a strong field to win his fifth (FIFTH!) tournament in a row. He finished second in the event before the streak, he won two majors in the streak, he overcame a round over par this weekend (horrors) and he showed he can rally to win as well as dominating to win.
While we eagerly anticipate the opening of the NFL season, while we savor some neat baseball playoff races, we can't let this measure of greatness pass unnoticed. It's not as if Tiger has never been this good; he has. That he keeps doing it is what makes it so remarkable.
