It's actually been a while since I last blogged...but it's because I have early action due this wednesday/thursday. Actually, I shouldn't be doing this right now. But whatever.
Okay. On to the Patriots. There is no conspiracy, and it is legal to run up the score on your opponents, and you always want your team to do the best. But Bill Belichick has completely gone over the boundaries. Of course, it's not against any rule(not yet, at least), but can't Belichick show at least a BIT of class by running the ball when leading by 42? And not throwing deep to Randy Moss in the 4th quarter, up by that same margin? And how about those two fourth down attempts?
Well, I think the Patriots are a very good team, as they manhandled my Chargers in Week 2(mind you, it was before Norval Turner stopped being a ****), and Brady is the clear-cut MVP, no question. I mean...30-2 TD-INT ratio...granted, it's being helped by Belichick, but Brady has to make the throws nonetheless.
Actually, in truth, if I was Brady, I'd be getting mad at BB for running up the score, because other teams get pretty mad when humilated like that. And opposing defenses can only get more fierce, hence more hits on Brady, which Tom obvious would not like.
Patriots are the clear front runners for the Vince Lombardi trophy this year, but I am warning the Patriots just this one time...
BEWARE OF KARMA. "THE UNIVERSE TENDS TO UNFOLD AS IT SHOULD." For your sake be careful, Bill Belichick.
Anyways, looking forward to the showdown of the decade, Colts vs Patriots at the RCA Dome in Indy, 4 pm et. Should be a great game. I'll watch it right after I watch my Chargers.

You got it right on the "karma" bit. I've written blogs yesterday AND today on just that...why the ENTIRE New England region (not just Pats/Red Sox/BC fans) has an image problem right now.
Looks like your Bolts are back on track...you KNOW by now I (and other Redskins fans) have been taking a beating in FanNation the past 30-or-so hours!!!
Still, I'll watch the Indy-NE game, if only to watch Peyton Manning show everybody (read: Belichick) how the sport is REALLY played.

DC, you're a trip. First you boldly state that the Redskins would crush the Patriots and now you've got sour grapes. It must be sad in your home.
With the Pat's O-line, the only way someone will get a dirty hit on Brady is if they hire Tonya's boyfriend to do it, the Giants excluded. But I somehow think the Giants, like about 95% of players in the league can realize that the Patriots aren't running up the score. They're playing the game. And players like Strahan, dirty as they can be at times, understand history and know how to respect it.
You guys act like teams have never won by 45 points before. How long have you been watching the NFL? Three years?

Hmm, does 51-10 sound familiar? It would if you knew jack about the Patriots, since that was the final score the Bears beat them by in the '86 SB. It's not like the Pats have never had it "run up " on them before.
Meanwhile, these "poor" Redskins put up scores of 56-17, 34-0, and 45-0 in 1991...under coach Gibbs.
So...what was that about karma again?

I'm beginning to think that "parity" is to blame. Most of the folks here don't remember the days when there were teams that were utterly dominant. It's been a long time since teams could even put up scores like 52-7.
Everyone expects a close game, or at the most, a modest margin of victory. To wit, the average margin of victory in the NFL over the last several years is less than a touchdown. Something like what the Patriots are doing is a shock to the system for a lot of these young people, who grew up believing that even the best teams aren't that much better than the also-rans. The only thing most of these people can think of to compare the Patriots is the 1998 Vikings, which is far from an apt comparison.

Nice observation, and it rings true. I hate to be the one to point out that Moss was on that 98 Viking team but..you know..I just couldnt resist..;)
