Did the Pats run up the score? Did the Pats run up the score? Did the Pats run up the score?
You know, I usually avoid all the ESPN junk leading up to their MNF games, but last night, the Xbox was on the fritz, and there was nothing else on. So I flipped on the channel, started a fire and tried to chill out and watch. But jeez, that question might as well have been played on loop all night. I mean, I guess its a fair question, but when you ask it to every single analyst on your staff, and most of them give the same "Clearly, but it's not their fault the 'Skins couldn't even pretend to stop them" answer, do you really need to broadcast every single answer non-stop for the 12 hours leading up to the game? Especially when this particular game has no implications for the Pats at all? I think they probably could have shown the answers from Ditka, Schlereth, and Hoge, and that would have been more than enough. There was certainly no need to ask it to all 279 people they had working the Monday nighter.
While I'm on the "ESPN sucks on Monday night" subject, how long do we have to put up with Kornheiser before someone realizes that he doesn't add anything to the broadcast team? He actually subtracts from the quality of the broadcast. Tirico has been a great play-by-play guy for a while. Jaworski is really good at breaking down film, and can be good at breaking down the action. Kornheiser, clearly only watches the games he's paid to be at, and still doesn't really have a grasp of the game of football. But he's such a commanding personality that he turns the other two into a couple of knuckleheads. Honestly, three men in the booth is too many anyway. Just put in a good play-by-play guy, and a good analyst, and you've got all you need, and likely, all you should ever have. I think Tirico-Jaworski would be great, and I bet that even Tirico-Theismann wouldn't have been that bad if Kornheiser wasn't there to muck it all up.

I totally agree. I hate the Pats as much as the next guy, but its not their job to stop scoring - it's the opposing defense's job to stop them.
Where I take issue (and this actually doesn't reflect on the Pats in the least), is with the sports media outlets -- Namely ESPN -- shoving this question down our throats all week. The answer is inconsequential. Its completely subjective, and more importantly, it doesn't matter in the least. Does it look like the Patriots care what ESPN thinks?
I guess, on the bright side, it takes time away from the Yankees, Red Sox, and Kobe on ESPN. Is there any other sporting news? I wouldn't know by watching them. SportsCenter used to be pretty good. Now its gotten so big that it doesn't know what it isn't doing anymore - reporting sports news.
