Well it's finally week 1 in the NFL, so let's take a look at this week's "Duds n Studs"!
WEEK 1 STUDS
NOTE: Obviously, guys like Adrian Peterson, Chris Johnson, Frank Gore, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Andre Johnson, Dallas Clark, etc.. are starters EVERY WEEK. You can never EVER bench players like this, so why even talk about them? Exactly. So my weekly segment will ignore the Fantasy Elites. If you have a Fantasy Elite player, you should never consider benching them unless it's their BYE week. Got it? Good.
Now onto our Studs...
- Percy Harvin and Bernard Berrian, WR and V. Schiancoe, TE (Min) I don't know how the Vikes will keep up with Brees, but I have a feeling that these 3 guys will get plenty of work tryin'.
- Jerome Harrison, RB (Cle) If he's your #2 RB this week, he might actually fare better than your #1 guy. With Montario Hardesty out for the season, it's all Jerome, all day long! He should get at least 1 TD and 100 yards rushing.
- Carnell Williams, RB (TB) And on the other side of that game, is Caddy, rushing against a sloppy Browns defense. I expect him to put up similar stats to Mr. Harrison. Start him as your #2 RB or Flex option.
- Mike Williams, WR (TB) The #1 WR option for the Bucs against the lowly Browns, why not start him as your 3rd WR or Flex?
- Jay Cutler, QB (Chi) Gotta love any QB facing the poor Lions. Not that I dig any of the Bears wideouts.
- Matt Forte, RB (Chi) Same as Cutler, how can you not start him agains the Lions?
- Rashard Mendenhall, RB (Pit) not that you would consider benching him. But with Big Ben out until week 6, look for them to lean on Mendenhall early in the season to take the pressure off of Dixon.
- Brandon Marshall, WR (Mia) just making sure you know that he's one of the "Elite" players I was talking about earlier. He's even more elite considering he faces the Bills this week.
- Chad Henne, QB (Mia) speaking of Marshall, you might want to consider starting Henne this week. I'm assuming that he's your #2 option at QB, but if you're #1 option isn't a Brees/P. Manning/Rodgers kinda guy, and he's going up against a tough pass defense, you should definitely give Henne the nod.
