I couldn't believe when I saw the scroll while watching Alabama-Penn State. This is a guy who a lot of niner fans considered a bust until last year. Finally Singletary set him straight, & he showed why he was drafted so high.
But that's one year. What's to say he won't revert to his previous form? It's happened before, in all sports. And of course, a lot of players become stiffs after getting a big contract. Or they get a massive ego. The Niners have experience in this. They had a very quiet, humble WR at one time. He was given a huge contract, & suddenly he turned into a loudmouth, quarterback & coach killer who called himself T.O.
Davis already has some of that, as does Michael Crabtree.Interestingly, Alex Smith had a big contract as the #1 pick, & never acted on it. He had to renegotiate a smaller contract, & now he is acting like the veteran leader he should be. Does this mean more wins? I don't know. I just hope more money doesn't make Davis act like T.O. He's better than he was a couple of years ago, but he still has the dropsies sometimes.
