I've lived in Kentucky for a fair number of years, and I had no idea Pikeville had it's own school.
Here is a little more information about Pikeville. They were founded in 1889. They are affiliated with the Presbyterian Church and their mascot is the Bear. The team is coached by Kelly Wells who led Mason County High School to a State Championship in 2003. Wells was also a member of three straight sweet sixteen tournaments with Rowan county as a player.
Pikeville is part of the Midsouth conference which is part of NAIA.
I have some quick thoughts on the game, which UK leads 51-27 at the half.
Of course it is not even close at the half, but Jodie Meeks has exploded for 27 points, which is fairly impressive. He is 7-9 from the arch, which is just fantastic.
Paterson has shown so fair to be aggresive on the Offensive glass.
UK has 14 assists and 15 rebounds to go along with Field goal percent of 55.
Of course UK is supposed to beat up on a tiny little NAIA school, but these exhibition games are going to be great learning tools for the team!
Second half action is coming up!
