It was an interesting draft for the Saints. For the past couple months, I was thinking the Saints would be thinking all secondary for the first pick, and so did most "draft experts." But after we signed David from the Colts to line up with McKenzie, I had no idea who we would draft. I was pretty confident we would still draft for the secondary, or Linebacker, since the Saints are pretty much locked up, offense-wise. Looks like I was wrong, as the Saints took Robert Meachem of Tennessee with first pick. Overall, I am happy with it, because I think it solidifies our WR corps, now that Horn is gone. Hopefully Colston can stay productive, and if Meachem can produce, just more targets for Brees.
We did take a couple CBs though, which hopefully will help when people start to realize McKenzie is all-talk (good coverman, but clumsy, lot of penalites, and no hands) and when we go in nickel and dime.
Pittman was a very interesting pick, as in a waste if you ask me. Already have the best RB duo out there, and we draft a so-so rb in the 4th? Why? Friend told me the Saints might be starting to think of a future without Duece McAlister. I will be livid if the Saints trade McAllister, who has been nothing but a good player and a good New Orleanian since he has gotten there.
Other than that, seems the Saints front office are big fans of players from small schools, with players from Akron, Kent St, and Wingate(wha???). Hopefully they are diamonds in rough. Only time will tell.
