Kyle Busch's Truck team is having sponsorship problems. This is a high profile team and if they can not make a run at it does it mean that the truck series is on the ropes?

I know Todd Bodine had a hard time getting sponsorship and he was a reigning Champion.

If we go farther back if I remember right Mike Skinner won a Championship and the team he was on closed the doors at the end of that year after winning the Championship. Mike ended up on another team the following year with no sponsorship and has not really been on a contending team since.

This was before the econameny went for a dump so is there just 1 too many NASCAR series?

Should NASCAR lose one to save the other 2 or at least help them?

Or is the truck series something worth trying to save?

First, Kyle has been having sponsor trouble all year. He over extended himself with his new shop, either lost one or a sponsor fell thru and he's had to scale WAY back.

Now as to the truck series, from the beginning I wondered "why"? From where I sit, shut it down and let the sponsors migrate to Nationwide or Cup...

From the T & R thread they also point out the Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart are still looking for sponsors for next year. I don't think the money that sponsors spend is worth the limited amount of advertising they get. Especially if you're just going to stick your name on the hood and let it go at that. Sponsors like Home Depot, Lowes, and Bass Pro Shops really embrace their NASCAR team, so I think its worthwhile for them.

If I was king of the world, I'd keep Nationwide as a feeder series for "young" talent. I don't know how, but I would restrict Cup drivers from Nationwide. I don't want to eliminate them, because I think the young drivers can learn from going up against the pros. I think limiting the number of races or making them ineligible for the championship might be the way to go.

Allow drivers x amount of races they are allowed to be in the Nationwide series.
They can pick and choose which races they race but once they are done they are done till the next year

Its hard enough to find sponsors now in Nationwide. Why would they sponsor guys that no one ever heard of. Maybe NASCAR needs to look at a different way to get money to the teams. I've said this before, but maybe hey ought to have some form of revenue sharing between the rich teams and the poor teams. How about NASCAR subsidizing the purchase of engines, chassis, etc. from the richer teams. Something has to be done or there will be only a dozen cars running at the end of the race. The rest will be S & P.

Unbiased I agree with you totally (#5)...having Cup guys in NW ups the game and better prepares the rookies for Cup level later on.

I think the economy is the biggest cause, with low "bang for your buck" being the secondary cause.

Shoot the truck series and put it (and us) out of its misery.. this series has run its course.. let it die with some dignity.. what little it has left..

Keep the Nationwide seies and let it be the developemnt league is was intended to be.. and keep the Cup drivers where they belong.. IN THE CUP SERIES!!

Remember back in February just one week or so, before Daytona ... ;( The Miccosukee Tribe pull the sponsorship of Kyle Busch Truck Team and #09 Jim Finch / Phoenix Racing in CUP.

So both teams had to look for new sponsors, during the season vs being SET with a sponsor before the season starts.

And on this whole sponsorship thing.....Look at BUD going to RCR as the main sponsor for Only 20 races, + BUD shootout & All Star races,.....years ago it would have been for the FULL season!

All downhill for Nascar since the COT and the Chase... horrible decisions by the younger France's... not the first booming business ruined by the "and Sons". btw, anyone notice that the gawd-awful IRL is yet AGAIN taking it's title chase to the final race mere points apart, without the competition-destroying mediocrity-rewarding phony-baloney lead-by-400-points-one-day-and-trail-by- fifty-the-next Race to the Bleeping Chase????

And it comes down to ' BANG for the BUCK $$ ' ......Look at Miller Beer...36 races in CUP....81 MLB home games at Miller Park in Milwaukee.

Lowe's stopped having the naming rights to Charlotte Speedway,.....gee Bruton only wanted $8m per year for that.

I hate to see the truck series fold since its a different breed from the stock cars and it has a reputation of being more driver skill than strategy, but if it's not making a profit there isn't much of a choice.

was watching football yesterday a bit. It struck me that there are probably less "empty seats" at all NFL games combined on a given Sunday than the single NASCAR Race that is only being viewed by those fortunate enough to be able to afford ESPN, whereas the NFL games are on "free" channels.
