Ok, so I'm probably gonna lose my first TD. That's ok. I'm fighting a nation of sports fans who don't like my sport of choice. Here's the thing. I wanted people to hear an avid fan's point of view on the state of American sports. To tell you the truth, I'm tired of the whole 'cowboy' image that we've been portraying as a nation. ''Our sports are better than yours 'cause we're American, frenchy''. I hate that. It makes us sound stupid and closed minded. I always thought that we were an accepting nation, at least constitutionally. Of course, you still have those that are stuck in the early 20th century with how they feel about race and religion and what not. But they shouldn't count. Yet somehow their opinion has transferred over into what I thought was the impartial sport world. I almost feel like a double minority. I'm a Mexican-American who is a soccer fan. I should get welfare or something. (joke). When people ask me now what's my team, and I say DC United, they confusingly reply "what the hell is that''. It's hard being a fan of such an underappreciated (in the US) sport. If anything, people like me are the new rebels. The new patriots standing up for what they believe in. We're not asking you to change what you like, just to let us be.
