1. Ohio State

Lower:  Can't think of one good reason that Ohio State isn't #1...they can really prove they are #1 if they beat a good Illinois team by a couple of TD's.

2. LSU

Higher:  They can't be.  Only way they take over the top spot is if the Buckeyes lose.

Lower:  Loss is to Kentucky which is a pretty bad loss...

3. Oklahoma

Higher:  Beat down the A&M Aggies in Norman and have quality wins over Mizzou and Texas.

Lower:  Fell apart on the road in Colorado and still don't have any good road wins.

4. Missouri

Higher:  The Tigers of Missouri's loss is alot better than LSU's loss.  Mizzou lost @Oklahoma where it is nearly impossible to win.

Lower:  Should have beat Oklahoma but couldn't pull it out so a loss is a loss.

5. Oregon

Higher:  The Ducks beat previously undefeated Arizona State last weekend and have won in the Big House at Michigan and beat USC.

Lower:  Loss to Cal isn't looking very good at all...

6. West Virginia

Higher:  Have only one loss that was to then #18 South Florida, @USF.

Lower:  This loss is looking less impressive as the Bulls of South Florida have dropped 3 straight.

7. Kansas

Higher:  Putting up 76 points against any team no matter how bad their defense is extremely impressive.

Lower:  The only reason they put up 76 is because they couldn't hold the dismal Nebraska offense and their second string QB so they needed the insurance.

8. Boston College

Higher:  Have won @Georgia Tech and Va Tech and only have one loss.

Lower:  The loss is to unranked Florida State and it was a homa game...

9. Georgia

Higher:  Won at Florida and have one of the best backs in the nation in Knowshon Moreno.

Lower:  Lost to S. Carolina and at Tennessee and their D looks a little inconsistent.

10. Hawaii

Higher:  The Rainbow Warriors are undefeated and have dominated opposition...usually.

Lower:  They haven't played too many teams with a pulse...

On the Verge:  Arizona State, Connecticut, Virginia Tech, Michigan

Kansas should be higher than #7. Top 3-4. Agree with your commentary on the WVU loss to USF. USF is looking less impressive every week. Oregon should be ahead of OK and Mizzou, as Oregon is improving steadily and Big 12 teams look consistently inconsistent. Sooners have looked plain awful on the road. Hawaii's tough to call. Won't really know about the Warriors until they play a bowl game.
Impressive bit of research/analysis for someone so young.

I will move Kansas up if they can beat OSU in Stillwater. Otherwise they still haven't really proven themselves. Oregon's loss is alot worse than Mizzou's. Oregon lost to Cal who has looked worse and worse and Mizzou's loss was @Oklahoma, an extremely hostile environment. Oregon might be in front of OU but not sure...OU slipped up to Colorado but otherwise have looked pretty good with a few mistakes on the road but they have still only lost one. The only Big 12 team that looks inconsistent is OU on the road, otherwise they are looking steady. Hawaii, I might have wrong but I believe that they could compete with many of the top 10 teams on a neutral site and they are undefeated which has to count for something.

And thank you...

Yeah, honestly, although I'm sold on Kansas's offense, these next few weeks will be the a real test for their D.

Nce top ten mitchell and kansas is goin nowhere

You drop Oregon because they lost to Cal yet OU loses to worse CU and you don't drop them. Oregon also beat top 10 ranked USC and ASU, OU has only beaten Mizzou. Don't get me started on how overranked the Longhorns are. And Kansas at 7? Mizzou bias is blinding you. Their D is ranked in the top 10 in the nation. They will shut OSU down this week. And the comment over..."if they beat this team....then I will give them respect" is really old. That was said with K State, then CU, then A&M, then Neb. KU is a good team, and until they lose, should be given that respect.
On the other hand, Hawaii as a mid major at 10? They haven't played a team with a winning record yet. Haven't played any of the top 4 teams in their division and had to go into 2 overtimes already. Look for dropping at least 3 of the next 4.

Cal was a home game for the Ducks and Colorado was an away game for the Sooners and I don't think that Cal and Colorado are as far apart as they may seem. I didn't rank Texas....and I guess it is possible that the bias is blinding me but honestly, they need to beat a good team and play good on offense and defense...OSU is a good team, IMO, and it's a road game, this is their toughest game to date by quite a bit I think. But i will admit that you probably are correct in that i am really biased. "until they lose, should be given that respect" so the same goes for Hawaii, they aren't ranked above KU because they don't have a good schedule at all. And KU has played three teams with a winning record: Central Michigan, K-State, and Texas A&M. None of these are that great...good maybe, but definitely not great.

And thanks t-sho, I hope you are right

I don't think the LSU loss to Kentucky was that horrendous. For one Kentucky is a very talented team - they dominated the All-SEC pre-season awards. They have however played inconsistently. If you watched the game - Kentucky played extremely well !

Kentucky always plays up to LSU. Even when they stunk they played LSU tough (See Bluegrass miracle video on you-tube)

LSU was also in a run of 4 ranked opponents - more importantly - the week after Florida.

The game went to triple overtime, and a two yard gain instead of one could have changed the outcome.

No - this loss could be a softer blow, but it's not that bad.

How does a loss at home, not going into OT, to 8-3 Illinois matchup?

November 11, 2007  10:35 AM ET

Well, now obviously LSU should be the top team...
