Gonna try to get back into this. Last season I went about 6 weeks making picks almost daily for the NHL. Haven't done that at all yet this season, but since I'm just getting back into this site, I figure I mine as well start it up again.
So without any further delay, here are my picks for November 9th, 2010:
Edmonton Oilers @ Carolina Hurricanes
My Pick: Hurricanes win 3-2
Oilers have a lot of young talent. But they're too raw at the moment. I like Carolina in this game with Jamie McBain having a big day.
Vancouver Canucks @ Montreal Canadiens
Canucks win 5-2
Canucks are in my opinion, the best team in the league. They've got good scoring lines, with one of the best defenses in the NHL, and of course Luongo between the pipes. Carey Price is going to have a bad day in net, with the Canadiens forwards having a difficult time finding the back of the net. I predict Markov will score one of their goals.
Washington Capitals @ New York Rangers
Rangers win 4-3
Lundqvist stands on his head as the Rangers beat the Caps in a great game.
Atlanta Thrashers @ Ottawa Senators
Senators win 3-1
The Thrashers have been good to start the year. But I think the Senators are starting to warm up.
Toronto Maple Leafs @ Tampa Bay Lightning
Lightning win 3-2
Phaneuf's absence will play a big role in this game. The Leafs will struggle on the PP as Stamkos scores two goals.
Calgary Flames @ Colorado Avalanche
Avalanche win 2-1
Craig Anderson has a big day as Jarome Iginla can't lead his team to victory against a stingy, scrappy Avs defense.
Anaheim Ducks @ San Jose Sharks
Sharks win 3-0
Homer pick alert. Sharks at home will be too good for the Ducks though. The Sharks have been shutout three straight times on the road, so coming back home, they'll be fired up to get back in front of the home crowd. Niemi gets the start and finally performs the way he's expected to.
There you have it. I will be keeping my overall record as the days go by, but for now, I'm 0-0. Let the hockey commence.
