Has anybody heard about Travis Pastrana coming over to nascar to race Nationwide? My feelings are mixed about this. On one hand he is an incredible athlete. On the other the only four wheeled vehicle that he has raced is a ralley car. I know he will bring some new fans to the sport but will he really be able to race at a competitive level?
He is teaming up with MWR which as of late has fielded good cars but is that really enough? Is he the next Danica? What are your thoughts?

A lot of people have wanted to see new blood in NASCAR, you can't get much newer than this. He was awesome on motorcycles, then went to rally and was very successful there. He's starting in the right series, learn the ropes in nationwide. I think he'll do well and will be rooting for him.
Besides, who could handle a loose car better than a rally driver? They're sideways most of their races! LOL

Totally lost on who he is but glad to have anyone and willing to make a run at it.
There is a bike driver already in truck series and he he is not doing well and I am drawing a blank on his name other than he is a team mate to Horniday.

I think there's video out there of him "intentionally" back flipping his Suby off a ramp. This guy is something else.

Another Ricky Carmichael eh? Ricky has shown improvement, but frankly, Danica (god I cant believe I am saying this!) has improved faster.
I dont see much of a story coming of this. The NW series, and cup for that matter, is starving to find real, bonafide new TALENT that can compete at the upper levels.

Reading up a bit on this announcement, it sounds like, especially going to MWR, he may be bringing some kind of sponsorships along with him.
Works for Menard.. why not.

First, Travis starting out Slow ...only 7 to 11 races in 2011, plans for 20 in 2012,....
Also his Team ;)....newly-formed Pastrana-Waltrip Racing team (PWR), competing in seven races in Toyotas prepared by MWR...
So I guess nobody in NASCAR.....Roush, RCR-Havrick, Bruan, etc. was going to give him the keys to go drive....so he form his Own team.
And Travis is only 27 .....Danica 28....the Future faces of NAPCAR ;)))

Remember Travis also ran in Tony Stewart's, Prelude to the Dream event in a Late Model ....so I guessing maybe a little advise from "Smoke" and others on this move to NAPCAR

I didn't place him at first, but on Float's You Tube link they had his jump in the Red Bull car. The man has no fear so he should do well in NASCAR. As was said above he is used to the rally cars going sideways so he should be able to handle a loose COT. That may have been part of Danica's problem. The Indy cars are so stable compared to NASCAR it must be a huge adjustment.

I don't watch motorcross or rally racing so I can't comment on either Carmichael or Travis.
But, as I know this will bring the fires down on me, I think Danica once acclimated to the cars will be a good top 10 driver in NASCAR. Her finishes this year in Nationwide have been a little misleading. Many of her DNFs are from wrecks that she gets caught up in, and are not of her own making. To be running such a limited schedule, and driving in a different series with a vastly different car at the same time as Nationwide and even be able to run as well as she has is and accomplishment in itself.

HERESY! HERESY! LOL As much as we have fun criticizing her, she showed some real progress at the end. As I said there is a huge difference between the Indy Car and the COT. Besides being bigger and heavier the Indy Car doesn't slide like the COT car does. That has to be a big adjustment.

I'm looking forward to seeing this guy race. He may be the personality and talent NASCAR needs.

I will give you top 10, but in nationwide, and 50% of that is going to come from the quality of the HMS built cars.
Getting caught up in wrecks is all part of the Cup level skill. There is a distinct level of skill difference at it between saturdays and sundays.
