Offense

The Cowboys offensive line did a great job of keeping Kitna upright throughout the entire game.  Great move to start Felix Jones even though it was due to Barber having a dress code violation.  Looks like Barber is still auditioning for "Dancing With the Stars".  More importantly the receivers only had 1 drop pass that I could remember and penalties were kept a minimum.  Kitna was very impressive to say the least and the only bad throw was the int., he just got confident that Dez Bryant could beat the double team.  The way Bryant was catching everything that was thrown at him, he probably could have made catches against triple coverage.

Defense

The new DC did a tremedous job of switching to zone coverages.  Seemed like D-Ware rushed the QB 50% and the other 50% played coverage that made him look like a non-factor.  Very good route recognition by the Cowboys secondary for their interceptions.  One int. by McCann for 101 yd. TD and another int. by Ball to clinch the game for the Cowboys.  They also played the run very well, however, zero sacks for the Cowboys pass rush.

Special Teams

Receiving teams did a very good job of returning punts and kickoffs.  DeCamillis needs to allow Buehler to kick the ball into the endzone for touchbacks.  Just doesn't make sense because this was the reason Buehler was drafted due to the fact that Nick Folk didn't have the leg to get it there.

Garrett

Fifteen years ago Garrett's wife gave him advice to throw it deep to Alvin Harper when he started the game against the Packer during Thanksgiving.  I have the feeling that his wife gave him the advice to throw the ball to Dez Bryant.  Great post-game interview with Pam Oliver, Garrett remained humble by acknowledging Coach Phillips for his contributions to the team and to his growth as a coach.

Players to watch

Both Jenkins and Newman should be released after the season.  Jenkins' backup comes in and produces an impressive interception and Newman only plays well when the going is good.  It would be good to see more Felix Jones and Tashard Choice because Barber continues to dance in the backfield.  These 3 players need to pick-up their game, because they probably won't be back next year with the Cowboys.

Good blog man. This is a great win for the Cowboys. Fresh off of last week's brutal loss, and playing under a new coach, I'm stunned they pulled off the win in New York.

OK, you're a coach so I have to ask what % was Garrett and what % was the team finally understanding jobs were at stake.

Here's where I'm coming from. I like Garrett (but I liked Wade too) and I think he's trying to turn this team in the right direction. Barber and the dress code is a great example (would Jerry have let Wade make that decision?). But how much effect can a coach have in 5 days? I think Garrett's chances are better if the team REALLY is buying into his system. And if Jerry lets him coach.

Great point! The changes that Garrett made won't matter if the Jerry doesn't support him. If a coach isn't allowed to enforce his policies by the owner then the just made his coach a lame duck whether he is an interim or not. If Coach Phillips didn't get the support, then he was setup for failure by Jerry Jones.
