The rain just happened to start right as B.J. Thomas started singing the national anthem to honor America. With the marine color guards standing on the pitcher???s mound, the grounds crew rushed onto the field to cover it up. The marines continued with the ceremony and didn???t rush off the field in any way; they marched off as if there was no rush at all. The grounds crew was right behind them the whole way with the tarp in hand. This was a controversial move, as some people feel that they should have waited until the national anthem was over, and the marines were off the field. Some people have been commenting on this event, saying that it was disrespectful to America, and the tarp could have waited another minute. What made this situation worse was right after the grounds crew finished putting the tarp on, it stopped raining. In my opinion, there is no one person who is right or wrong in this situation. The grounds crew was just doing what they are paid to do, and wanted to take extra precaution because it was an ALCS time sensitive game. I don???t think they purposely ran onto the field with the intention to ruin the national anthem and disrespect America.

On October 22nd, the
Texas Rangers and the New York Yankees stood in front of their dugouts with
their hats off and hand across their chest, just like the beginning of every
other MLB game they have played before.
On this day though it was a little different. Right before the start of the ALCS Game 6 it
started heavily raining. Like any normal
game, the field crew did what they are trained to do when something like that
happens; ran to cover up the infield with the tarp, so the field could be
playable when the rain stopped. So
what???s the problem?
