And boy were they ever!
I don't understand how this Illini team lost to Iowa especially, but to Michigan at home, and Missouri also.
They are a very good football team with a Coach that CAN coach in big games. Coach Zook is not "just a good recruiter" as Florida fans are so fond of saying.
As a Buckeye fan I appreciate the kind, gracious words by Coach Zook and Juice Williams after the game. Juice thanked God and gave credit to a tough Ohio State football team. This was so very "un-Michigan" or very "un-Mike Hart" like, if you know what I mean.
The Buckeye players need to pick their heads up and quit feeling sorry for themselves and their situation, which, if we beat Michigan, means we go to the Rose Bowl!
Not too bad for a "rebuilding" year, and only two seniors starting, one on each side of the ball!
Let's Go Buckeyes! Beat Michigan!

OSU is a good team, though obviously not all that mentally tough or resiliant. You get this way by playing and learning how to win against quality opponents -- OSU is a big enough program that they need to schedule a tougher out of conference schedule in future years.
As for yesterday, the defense didn't show up in the 4th quarter and Illinois just wanted it more.
I think my boy Vrabel needs to go back to Columbus and teach OSU's defense how to stop a QB keeper.

You have to understand two things:
1.) Ohio State is a very young team. It only has two seniors that start. One on offense and one on defense.
2.) Ohio State has Miami(Fla), USC, Oklahoma, and some of the other top teams in the country scheduled in the next few years, for their OOC schedule.

Got to be tough to "reload" for more teams like Youngstown St., Akron, and Kent St. If that genius Tressell keeps his mouth shut, and not call a timeout OSU gets the ball back. They'll get crushed in what ever bowl they play in, like last year !!!!!!

What a meaningless "exhibition" the OSU vs Michigan game will be! Play for the Rose Bowl not the title in your little schoolyard game! Lloyd Carr is so selfish keeping Mike Hart, Chad Henne out of the Wisconsin game so they can play against OSU, trying to make fans forget their losses "if" they beat Ohio State. The Big 10 is such a JOKE!!!!

I can see you graduated from the 13th grade! I'm not the one who is crying after last Saturday! I heard Maurice Clarett is getting out of the "Big House" not to be confused with the "Big Bleacher" in Michigan, to dot the i next week!!!!!! Now go watch the Big 10 sportsmanship video(after the Illini game) with Uncle Lloyd

I hope that OSU beats Michigan on Saturday. I would much prefer that a "class act" like Jim Tressel take his program to the Rose Bowl to represent the conference. I have never liked Michigan (a result of all those years with Bo S. as head coach and A.D.)
I appreciated your comments on Coach Zook, who appears to be the best thing to come along at Illinois in nearly 20 years. I cannot understand what the problem was down in Gainsville (Univ. of Florida) - other than the fact that he wasn't Steve Spurrier. As a Buckeye fan, you can relate to that, I'm sure. Just look at the way Earl Bruce was treated years ago. He had the best record in the Big Ten during his stint as head coach at OSU, but got booted anyway (and then proceeded to beat Michigan in Ann Arbor - SWEET !). It always seemed to me, as an outsider, that the only real problem with Earl Bruce was that he wasn't Woody Hayes.

I make fun of the ltttle two of the Big 10 because it's easy, but it's starting to feel hollow (like making fun of ND)..
I'll provide some real insight into the OSU/UM "upsets" this weekend.
1. Illinois was not an upset. Illinois beat Michigan at home but the mistakes they made during Michigan's critical 4th qtr drive is what kept UM in the game. I mean they provided about 45yds of offense to UM durign that drive because of penalties, then they fumbled a punt when they had a chance to come back. Illinois matured a lot playing Michigan, and it gave them confidence to know they can hang with anyone in the Big 10.
2. Wisconsin wasn't an upset. This team hasn't showed up on Saturday all season, it's about time they did. plus, if they hadn't fell apart against OSU on that second fake punt (FYI Bielema - a fake punt works when they other team ISN'T expecting it..you can't do it three or four times a game) they may have kept that one close. I think they gained a little confidence after loosing to OSU, then they had the jitters out and were ready to play. Plus Michigan isn't a good football team and they never deserved a return to the top 25.
So in my opinion, OSU's loss can be attributed to Michigan and Michigan's loss can be attributed to OSU.
Seriously, Tressel just lost his lock on the B10 - I have a feeling the Zookers will be the team to beat for a while. I don't want to meet them in a bowl game, they will be ready and have something to prove. It's interesting that some people's current bowl projections have Florida and Illinois playing, that would be a great game.

As a nonbiased side watcher I think it was all about Ohio State finally being tested on defense. As an OU fan we realize defensive numbers start to climb when you have to face spread offenses with good QB's. Koodo's to juice for not blowing the game and playing great. OSU's QB has been hyped alot lately but in the wake of pretty weak defenses. He showed that when he is rushed he throws some bad passes occationally which cost them. I believe he has shown though he will keep improving as the game slows down for him. The line is young and they will mature as well plus OSU looks to have a couple of top linemen on the 08 recruit list that should help even more. All in all it was a good game and wonder what the outcome might have been had the ref's not blown that non-called fumble down by the goalline. I think OSU would have still lost that day but you never know about momentum.
