I know Im a little late on this one, but I had to. Portis did a lot of things right last week, but he showed me something that I have been waiting to see all year. Forget the 196 yards and forget the TD. He couldve had 40 yards and no TDs, but he still wouldve had what I was looking for. HE HAD 36 CARRIES! This whole year Gibbs was selling Portis short of carries. Its like he forgot how incredibly good Portis is. His previous high on carries was 20. The thing I liked most about 36 carries is they were behind almost the whole game. The thing you have to key on is the fact that Ladell Betts only had 9 carries! Finally Portis is getting the full workload. With Betts, you can basically count that as only 5 carries because Portis HAD to come out after about a 30 yard run and Betts took 4 carries.
Gibbs finally realized that Portis is a stud. Now, Ive always liked Portis and I usually draft him because he is one of my favorite players, but from any one's prospective he is one of the most talented backs in the league. HE CAN BLOCK! Ive never seen a RB give up his body like Portis. He is also a pretty good receiving back. Top all this with the pure ability to run the ball and get ito the end-zone and you got a key to success.
