Last night I went to the Orange Bowl to watch the final game played in that historic stadium.  I felt all week long that with the fact that it was the finale the Miami Hurricane players would come out swinging and for at least one night return to the former glory of Hurricane teams from the past.

I could not have been more wrong in my pregame thoughts.  This team came out and laid down to UVA.  They were never really in the football game.  The fans who have supported Miami are actually deserving of a refund for the performance (non performance) that was witnessed by this team last night.  Everything associated with Hurricane teams in the past such as heart, passion, desire, and a refusal to give in is completely lacking in this team.  The players are directly responsible for this disaster.  My gosh, think about these two points alone:

 1)  If you cannot get up for the final game to ever be played in the Orange Bowl in front of hundreds of former players who lined the field to form a human tunnel and a connection to the glory years of the past,

2)  If you cannot get up for the final game to ever be played in front of over 62,000 fans,

THEN YOU ARE LACKING IN CHARACTER AND COMMITMENT.  YOU ARE A LOSER!

One thought continued to float through my mind as the game unfolded and it was basically this, "Thank you lord, seriously, thank you Jesus, for helping Noel Devine find a good home at West Virginia University where he has a chance to be successful and surrounded by good teammates rather than these guys who are losers."

It's not all about winnning (most of it is), but to lay down and not even fight on the football field?  This current crop of Hurricanes should be embarrassed and ashamed of themselves for that (lack of) effort.

Speaking as a UVA fan, I have to say this: I was expecting a BETTER game than what happened last night. My God, we're good, but c'mon man...a CLOSE game would've been better than this!!
I mean, I should be HAPPY, but after reading J. Hoya's blog this afternoon I got bummed. I hated it for him, I did, really!!
But, you're right: you guys deserved MUCH better than what happened.

You know, srkill, I couldn't help but feel really weird watching Miami this year. To see those uniforms put on that kind of performance is just not right. As a non-fair-weather Sooner, I feel for you. I've been there. It's painful. But teams rise again and the U will be back.

ps. The Canes fans that came to Norman this year were great fun tailgating.
