Well Ravens Nation, I do believe that we can all collectively kiss the playoffs goodbye. At 4-5 after nine games, with the Patriots, the Colts, the Browns, the Chargers, and the Steelers still on the schedule, the team has a very good shot at 5-11 or 6-10 (or even less...who knows). Against the Bills, the Steelers, and the Bengals, the team has given me nothing about which to feel optimistic. I am definitely convinced now that 13-3 last season was only a very huge, very lucky fluke.
The Ravens' offense has reverted back to the sloppy stupidity that we had to deal with two seasons ago. Steve McNair is proving to be more of a liability than anything else this season. The man has already given the ball away eleven times this season and yet Billick still gives him the benefit of the doubt and keeps him on as starter. WHY? How many games has he lost for us already this season?? Yes he's been dealing with the groin injury and I understand that sort of injury is slow to heal, but enough freaking excuses. SOMETHING has got to change if the team is going to even remotely begin to salvage what's left of the season. SOMEONE'S head needs to roll. Kyle has been named starter in light of Steve's shoulder injury. Let's see if he makes a difference. He darn well better.
As for the defense, I'm not really sure what to think of them either. I was really shocked to hear Ray Lewis do all the public call-outs over the last couple weeks. As much as I agreed with him to a point, I also thought the whole situation rather poor of Ray. Don't air the family dirty laundry to the entire world. Doing so makes you look unprofessional.
I didn't get to watch the game. Thankfully, it wasn't aired in my local area, so I didn't have to worry about resisting the urge to throw something at my TV. I didn't get to see the offense stink up the stadium, nor did I get to gauge the defense's performance. Injuries have really really damaged the team, yet again.
Changes need to be made. I don't know what they are, but something needs to be done. I do not want to be Angry Fan Ranting the rest of the season.
